Dude it really puts it into perspective.....on the jumps the new bike catches way up and goes double or triple....but then the old XR grunts on one straight stretch and it's gone! Great riding dude. Your ability to corner that old hog is super impressive.
A lot of the time I was making up on the straights wasnt really because the bike was faster. It was because being behind ANY bike on that track was painful. So Sean would back off and let me get a few bike lengths before he would get on it. Otherwise you're just putting yourself I in harms way. I did it with him in moto 1 of that class. I would just have to give him some room.

@@Randy_Cox most guys do. But they don't protect your arms and neck. With this track , there is a legitimate fear of rocks even going through goggles.
Even on the trails at home I absolutely hate riding behind the XR650R, the 450's throw a bit but the XR650R just takes it to the extreme.
Given the chips said rocks from the 650 have put in my visors there's no way I'd want to cop a hit to the goggles
I was just thinking that watching this. Every time there's a straightaway the XR just pulls right ahead effortlessly. Awesome to watch. I also ride a 650R and I love that feeling when you punch it and it just gets up and walks away from just about anything off road

I bet you could revalve the suspension and hit those triples! I know trail riding would suck after that but it would be so cool to see an Xr purpose built for motocross and proceed to dominate! That would make a sweet video series.

Awesome footage of an amazing battle with 2 very good riders.Not too sure what the other bike was but the XR650r brute power acceleration is obvious.

@@fastguysslowbikes for what purpose tho? Motocross? The 650 engine is hard to beat for the torque it produces. My 650r pulls ahead of newer 450s on the road when dual sporting. Wish Honda would bring the r back with electric start and fuel injection

Rippin that bike! Awesome! I will have to say though here in nor cal this class looks more like intermediate. The local A class these guys are wide open and laying it flat over every jump. Nonetheless impressive on an XR 650 you definitely wouldn’t catch me out there on that thing lol
Ya this is a vintage series that has classes for modern bikes too. It doesn't attract a bunch of talent.

I watch you race and I catch myself thinking damn I could definitely beat this guy then I look at the other 20 or so guys actually trying and failing to beat you on much more modern machines then what I am riding and come to the realization that nope this dude is kicking ass on a 20+ year old 650cc machine that weighs as much as a truck and my old ass would be tired as hell on my 2005 crf450r 😆 I was racing it when it was new btw 🤣
