Landing on a beach: Flying Loganair to Barra | SOPLANE
Hello my little winglets and welcome to a new SOPLANE trip report! Everything has a silver lining and thanks to the pandemic I finally got to tick something off my bucket list - flying Loganair to Barra and landing on a beach! I made a wee daytrip out of it from Glasgow, out on the morning flight and back on the afternoon one. This video is of the outbound flight. I hope you enjoy it!

Very soon now, only 2 weeks until we fly this trip. Just have to circumnavigate a potential strike by air traffic controllers here from our point of origin. Fingers crossed they don't have to go on strike if they find agreement with their management. Or we dodge the strike.

The funny thing is these Dashes had only been with Flybe 2-3 years, but they were all treated like dirt and the cabins were in a state. We all used to laugh about it in maintenance.
I always thought that our management had a thing against the NextGen, having disposed of the first few almost immediately after they were delivered.

How long the flight from Sapporo to Fukuoka?
My 6â6â husband flew on G BVVK and loved the legroom. Admittedly, he was in the middle seat right at the back and had the whole length of the aisle to stretch his legs. Unfortunately, the âplane was still on the beach at Barra after we flew back later that day as she had engine trouble. Fortunately we had booked to fly home on G HIAL anyway. That was about 7 years ago so Iâm unsurprised to see she still has engine mishaps.
As a former Flight Attendant I could never understand why people put up with sardine class because thatâs exactly what it is . Itâs dehumanizing to sit like that for hours on end.
Flying to Barra on a Loganair Twin Otter is cooler than a very, very cold thing that has been put in the fridge. Loganair do âAdventure Daysâ (or did pre-Covid) which you can book a day return for ÂŁ85 which gave you a couple of hours on the island before the return flight. You have to book it over the phone and I think it excludes the summer months but itâs great deal - if they still do it.
