Wenjing Guo - Erhu Concerto (Score-Video)
This video was reuploaded from Zewen's channel (which was recently deleted for reasons unknown), which is itself a reupload from Bilibili.
I do not claim any of the work to be my own; as always, this video is purely for educational purposes.
There are a few discrepancies between the score and the audio (again for reasons unknown); these are clearly shown in the video.
Composer: Guo Wenjing (郭文景)
Erhu: Yan Guowei (闫国威)
Conductor: Yang Yang (杨洋)
Orchestra: Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra (杭州爱乐乐团)
Score: Ricordi (probably)
PS: Sorry for the break in videos, I've been preoccupied with applying to college. Going forward, there is no regular upload schedule.

I love the facial expressions of the little female cello player who is sitting to the right behind the solo cello player. A mixture of liveliness and melancholy. She "breathes" with his playing. I love it. Btw the soloists are all wonderful. One HAS TO FALL IN LOVE WITH HERBERT BLOMSTEDT anyway.

I spent years listening to tens of recordings of Ondine, appreciating the infinite possibilities of interpretation of the piece and the myriad of different takes on it from different pianists. But I kept listening to so many recordings also because I was looking for one that would match my sensitivity and fully convince me in all of the sections of this masterpiece. I believe my search is over. This is the most astonishing one I've heard to date. God bless these 2 musicians.

I'm curious where in Florida this was played, because honestly the lack of resonance from many of the instruments indicates a venue with improper acoustics. When I played this in high school, somehow I managed to play in venues that were set up properly (such as panels set up toward the rear of the stage that project more sound forward).

Coming back here (my "first" video) 2 years later after having performed my first Scriabin recital... this might still be my favorite Vers la flamme on the planet. It's like holding a burning piece of paper in your hand until you're forced to drop it. (Laul's recording is a close second, similar in conception and with much better sonics, but this one throws all caution to the wind and is relentlessly exciting even on repeated listening.)
