George Gershwin - ORIGINAL (1924) Version of Rhapsody in Blue (Score-Video)

- An HD score-video of one of the most popular works of classical music ever written, finally as originally heard at the New York premiere with Paul Whiteman's jazz band and Gershwin himself at the piano.
There are a few discrepancies between the score and the recording:
- At [insert timestamp], the recording skips two bars.
- Random bars in the piano part are altered slightly. I assume this is just the soloist improvising.
- In addition to oboe, clarinet, and bass clarinet, Reed 1 originally played Eb sopranino saxophone (*not* Eb clarinet) and Eb alto saxophone. I can't tell what instruments the performer is playing in this recording (leave a comment if you can tell!)
Once I get my hands on the critical edition of the score, I'll let you know which of these were typos and which were real edits. Stay tuned...

Unfortunately the instrumentation is inaccurate. There is an Eb sopranino saxophone part, and not an Eb clarinet in the original score. I've played it.
You're right! The score in this video is full of strange discrepancies, which I've added to the video description. I'm guessing the performers played from the Gershwin Critical Edition of the score (which correctly lists the Eb sopranino saxophone!), but that edition is brand-new and under copyright so I didn't use it in this video. Thanks for the catch!
@@Dodecatone In this performance I believe we are hearing the Eb sopranino saxophone, and clearly it is not the players primary double... The performers are all excellent, but the musical styling of the players (not their fault!) leaves wanting a more authentic representation.
