Nobody forced those damn kids to take a loan for college. So why the hell am I being forced to pay for their stupid decision?

PLEASE READ, PATRIOTS, PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE I'm sorry to preface every comment I leave on this channel by saying I'm an Englishman, but I want you to understand the respect some of us still have for the USA and what it stands for, I hold the same values and had I been alive at the time of independence, I would have felt more affinity for the American cause than the British. A good number of Englishmen died at the Alamo, and I hold that close to my heart when I think what they stood for, what the stand at the Alamo was about, and particularly when I look at my country, where we surrendered our proverbial Alamo, I would hate for the USA to suffer the same fate. Thank you for bringing attention to the healthcare issue - universal healthcare is APPALLING! If I need to see a doctor for an illness or even to get a prescription, I might have to wait 4 weeks for a 5 minute telephone appointment with a doctor. If I have to go to the emergency room, I might be waiting 14 hours to be seen by a rude doctor who barely speaks English, only to be incorrectly treated. My dad was taken severely ill last January. He went in for tests and it took until MAY to be told he had leukemia. He is supposed to be seeing a doctor every 4 weeks, so roughly 14 appointments between his diagnosis and now. Of these, 5 have been cancelled, and they have made innumerable errors with his prescriptions too. And this is absolutely not free. Of my paycheck, despite a nominal tax rate of 20% on money above the first 15,000, my overall ACTUAL tax rate is 33%, as "national insurance" (which pays the state pension that I will have to work until 67 as it currently stands to receive about £80 per week) isn't classed as tax. Given that the NHS accounts for 1/3 of the national budget (yes, it's THAT expensive) 11% of the money I earn goes to the NHS. My gross pay is around 3,600/month meaning this AWFUL health service costs me 1,200 per month We deserve better than this. AMERICANS deserve better than this, please do not let this happen to you. The health service has a vested interest in letting my dad die, as his treatments are seen as a burden to the state. After the government changes with the next election, they are going to bring in a euthanasia program to help alleviate the "burden" on the NHS. The healthcare you guys have certainly isn't perfect, but it's never going to be perfect is it? Human's are involved for Gods sake! But the way yours is set up, the healthcare providers have an incentive to keep you alive, which should surely be the point of healthcare. Big Pharma is a different issue, we are very similar in this regard. As if this wasnt bad enough, the NHS is CONSTANTLY used as a cudgel to hit the populace with to get them to comply. It was used as the justification for lockdown measures that kept us closed for years. It was used as the motivation to get millions of people vaccinated against our will. When the government holds the balance of your health in their hands, you are incredibly vulnerable, and it makes a powerful propaganda tool because who's going to oppose anything that's supposedly going to support the health service? They are dragging funding from other services like education and elderly care to pay for a disgraceful health service that pretty soon will be encouraging people to die, while the population impoverishes itself to maintain the tax burden. Finally, don't forget, there is also a tax on gas/petrol/diesel here of over 80%, we pay for a litre of fuel what you pay for a gallon, and part of the justification for this tax is the health service. There is a huge tax on tobacco too, justified by the cost to the NHS that smoking causes. And when I say huge, I mean; on the continent, tobacco products produced and packaged in the UK can be bought for as little as £48 for 10 packets of 50g of tobacco. In the UK itself, ONE of those packets costs £43 - for the NHS God bless you if you read this far, please make sure people understand what universal healthcare actually looks like. I went to college, I paid off my loans by myself. The government is why tuition costs are as high as they are to begin with. The government is why medical costs are as high as they are to begin with. The government is why housing costs are as high as they are to begin with. So of course the government can fix the problem they created by just shoveling more money into it right? Nope.

Regardless of what it does or doesn't do for our economy, the Supreme Court determined that any effort of the executive branch to do any student debt relief would be unconstitutional.

I would be amenable to a program that gave those with student loans a $35,000 low-interest, no-payment loan that was payable on death. The agreement would give first-payout rights from the estate to the government (ahead of the will of the decedent, any charitable gifts/trust/foundation or family inheritance).

If you do that on a car loan to get to work, Biden is not going to bail you out and you will get your car repossessed. Makes no sense, does it. I got my college education partially paid for by the American taxpayer. I also served six years in the US Army as a medic in exchange for that privilege. Even with the GI Bill, I had to work to make ends meet. I worked a night shift in the hospital as a paramedic (that was the first degree I picked up), after school as a janitor (I got a dorm cost reduction for being on work-study), and on the weekends driving a tractor for a local farmer (which I was good at as I'd worked on farms throughout high school). In the summers I worked full time as a paramedic and on my days off I built houses with my Dad. I really had no sympathy when people I knew who took out loans and enjoyed "the college life" without working complained when they had to start paying them back.

Ive been abroad and yeah i can say calling California a third world country is an insult to third word countries. Theyre better than California.

I joined the army, got the G.I. bill, worked part-time while I was in school, worked my summers and spring breaks and winter breaks, still had $24,000 worth of loans and I paid that off within the first year and a half after graduating. Also didn’t get my first professional job until one year after I graduated by the way, because we were at the trail end of Bush/Obama’s shitty recession.
