Can A Great Days Fishing Cost Almost Nothing? It Can When its Cold!
I spent a couple of hours fishing down at Den's Pond the other day. It is cold here at the moment and the fish don't need much food, so I decided to give myself a challenge and take only 100 pieces of Corn, 100 Pellets and a single slice of bread for the session.
Admittedly, this was a tiny amount of bait and on some warmer days you could easily need more, but at the end of the 2 hour session, I had plenty of fish and about half of my bait left. It just goes to show that you can go to a free venue with very little bait and still have a great days fishing, if you do it right.

Huge Window Feeders always Land the Same Way Up
zhlédnutí 1,5KPřed dnem
I have been designing and testing some new 3D Printed Window Feeders. They are extra large and weighted to one side so that the window always hits the bottom facing to the side. This helps the bait to come out of the feeder and reduces the trail if the feeder is retrieves almost immediately after it has hit the bottom. The .stl files for these feeders have been published on Thingiverse. Here ar...
Testing Experimental Window Feeders that always land with the opening at the side

I am testing a new Window Feeder specifically designed so that the feeder lies flat and the opening lands at 90 degrees to the bottom every time. With normal Window Feeders, the angler can't be sure which direction the window is facing when it hits the bottom, so you don't know how the feed is being dispersed. With this feeder, you can be sure that the window will always arrive on the bottom wi...

New Hybrid Cage Feeder Adds Flavour to the Mix

I think that people would buy this if it was sold as a kit with options. Its not as convenient as a kayak but I think it looks 500% more comfortable and stable. I am a thin old man (late 50's) with very little usable padding on my rear end and I cant imagine sitting very long in a kayak. We have 3 and I've never been tempted to try one. My kids will not have to share with me! You have a great thing there. Truly a bit of genius. Very well done!!
Thanks Seth. I'm sure that someone out there could make a mark 2 version which could be sold as a kit. As for me, I'm 68, so going back to sitting in a kayak isn't something on my horizon.😁😁👍👍
Lol, every time i watch one of your vids, i dust off my pole, then feeder fishing ? Yes, i get my feeder rods out, same as float etc 😂 at 71, i cant keep up. Thanks den 😊
Lol. Thanks Paul. 😁😁👍👍
Went away for a few days with the wife and the dog that had a lodge and a lake right outside but was not a fishing trip? Took a little amount of gear made some paste with 2 slices of bread and a cheese with Carlic spread .85p and caught a bucket full of silvers. Then I cricked my knee and back so put paid to the fishing! Try running the scissors over a wine bottle top it will sharpen them a treat.
All good as long as you caught a few mate. Sorry to hear about the knee and back. I hope its nothing too serious.
@@FishingwithDen I do not like this getting old bit at all! I have wear on both knee joints and smashed them up as child! Both straight after each.

Winter fishing in the sun MAGIC.🤩🤩
It was nice Clive, but I'm craving some warmth again now mate.😁😁👍👍
What's the pole you're using, length, where obtained, etc.?
Hi Al. The Pole is a Daiwa Yank n Bank 14.5 metres. I live in Australia, so there is a thriving secondhand scene for UK tackle down here. I actually bought 2 of these poles from my mates. One had never been used and the other had been used once. It means I have lots of spares and the whole lot cost me the same as one new pole from the UK.
well done Den! I never see you fishing with maggots, why is that? 🤔👍🐟👋
Thanks Danny. You can't but Maggots in the shops like in the UK or Europe. You either have to send off for them online and get them shipped in, or make your own. Shipping costs a lot of money. I have tried to make my own, but my wife shut production down when she tried to sit in the garden and got inundated with flies.🤣🤣👍👍
A nice days fishing Den. Tight lines and hope your finger gets better soon 🍻🎣👍 Keith in Notts
Thanks Keith.👍👍
Can't beat the sarnie pull round game...every time. Im sure they wait for 😂😂😂 Nice little pond. Look after the gaffer, its a six week recovery.
Yep. Every time Peter!🤣🤣👍👍
As an Englishman, you must sometimes crave roach, bream and tench; carp would be too monotonous for me.🤣🤣
You are absolutely right Ralf. I would love to catch other European type species. I was supposed to have a holiday about 2 months ago to a location about 1000kms away where I could catch Roach and Tench, but unfortunately, my injured finger meant I had to cancel it. I will do the trip sometime in the future though.
I’m slowly building knowledge on great roach and tench waters in Victoria now. Some decent sport!
@@GeorgeSavile I'm looking forward to the day I can get down there and sample some of that fishing George
@@FishingwithDen I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it works next time. Nice big roach is my favorite type of fish to feed. And of course bream.

Hi den. I use bread ( a lot ) but most of my bites come on expander pellets. Can you get them in oz ?
I've never seen them Paul. They might be something we can get sent over from the UK, but the Customs and Border people might confiscate them if they have certain substances in them.

LOVELY den good patterns
Hi Den, Do you use FGF 3D printing to produce your feeders etc.? Barry from Essex.
Hi Barry, I use the Creality Ender 3 V3 SE. It's an FDM printer and its really easy to set up and use. Its also quite cheap.
@FishingwithDen Thanks Den. Barry
Hi den again and thank you for the link for this video. The one thing thats slightly confuses me with using the slider is as far as i know you still have to plumb the depth initially but how can you plumb the depth when may be deeper then the rod your using? When using a bomb mainly how light can you get away it like 2 swan shots weight wise? Last question do you know the actual float you were using for this video
Hi Martin. Are you talking about a Slider Float or a Polaris Float here. They are completely different, so I need a bit more information please.
Hi den sorry it didn't really make sense when reading back i was taking about them both . The first part was about the slider and my question is when trying to find the depth and if the depth is deeper still then your rod is it just about adjusting the stop knot as the slider float once in the water will travel up and will only stop once it it's the stop knot so it can take a period of time ? Yes I know the polaris float is completely different and finds its depth which I think appeals to me more as it will find the depth quicker and there's no stop knot needed going through it the rings. My question about the polaris which may be depending on what size polaris float you use but what the lightest wait you can get away with on one of these floats to still work? And what polaris float were you using on the video? Den your videos are really great to watch and I'm very impressed mate .
@@martinhassall7884 Hi Martin. All I do to plumb the depth with a Slider Float is put a shot (SSG or AAA) either on the hook or immediately above it and then cast out as normal. If it sinks, your too shallow and if it floats your too deep. If the float does show above the water, take a foot of depth off and cast again until the float sinks. Repeat this process until the float just sinks, then you can add just a little more depth until the bait is on the bottom and the float tip sits normally. With regard to the Polaris Floats, the one I was using has a sticker on the side which says 6 - 10ft 3/4oz. I hope that helps.
Den thank you very much that's perfect.
Hi Den another nice video and love the fact your fishing and retired in Australia I'm 54 & would love that to be an option in the future. Would I be able use one in around 5ft/7ft of water and I do love the idea of using one of these more then the slider.
Thanks Martin. You could definitely use one in shallower water, especially if its very windy. Have a look at this video:czcams.com/video/oQlmvJ2VhUo/video.html Alternatively you can just use a normal waggler float in 5 feet or so of water. czcams.com/video/l4omnunNaAM/video.html
Do these work in fast rivers like in upper barb range?
Will be making a few of these and most likely reducing the size for some of the waters I fish. I do not think the rock would be a bad thing as it will keep throwing any bait left out?
Hallo Den I am the South African Guy who followed your lead and I have bought me a printer recently. I have adapted your design to make those method feeders a little smaller to suit our waters and they have been wordking exceptionally well. I have won many a competistion fishing with them. I have now designed my own Banjo type feeders and a bait-up feeder where the line goes through the middle instead of on the side. Still in testing phase buit they seem to work very well. Thanks for those feeder you sent me at no cost. They inspired me to be where I am today in my fishing and I love developing stuff. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Faan. I just responded to your email.😁😁👍👍

Useless in heavy weed. Depends on the type of weed. Swimfeeder snags like crazy. Pity.
Depending on the type of weed growth, I would probably use a slider float setup. I have a venue where the water is very clear and weeds do grow up from the bottom, so by using the slider I can keep the bait at whatever height is required.
