- Float ledgering is a fun way to fish in really deep water. You get all the benefits of fishing with a rod and reel, plus the ability to watch a float going under when you get a bite.

I remember those floats back in the day ❤nice revisit
Great video Den.
I bought a set of polaris floats a few years ago but never used.
After watching you, I'm going to give them a try.
Thanks Den and keep'um coming.
Hello Den, if your like me and live to watch a float, they are really good 👍
Well put together and a very good explanation on how to go about using a polaris, You make it look easy and to top it catch fish. Keep the videos coming enjoy watching and learning, 👍
Thanks Bob.👍👍
Great to see that patented left leg lift on the strike it's a thing of beauty den😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Thanks Paul
I love the Polaris...great for Pike fishing too
Polaris floats automatically plumb the depth for you. That can save somebody a lot of time.
I really enjoyed the virtual fishing...watching the float and waiting for the bite, I'm sure I did an actual strike at one point!😆
I think all of us love to watch a float go under mate.😁😁👍👍
As always, an informative video.
Hello great video I used to fish with one of these years ago, but at the same time, it's a great method, really enjoyed this, thank you.
Hi Clive. I'm glad you enjoyed it mate. 😁😁👍👍
Theres always one Den! But if you sweep the rod back way behind you to the clip then bring the rod forward when it hits the water it will come up faster and you will have line still on your reel to take up so you will have nigh on 24 feet of line when its hit the clip. Its a forgotten method that works brilliantly as you demonstrate,i use a loaded swivel float and stop knot. As you demonstrate it does away with fish sppoking into your line from rod to feeder as its vertical. Thanks for showing this Den 👍
No worries Robert. I don't profess to be an expert with this technique, so any constructive information is always welcome. 😁😁👍👍
I like that kind of fishing, well done Den .👍👍👍👌🐟🐟👋
Thanks Danny.
Polaris make some great stuff. New range of portable rod and reel kits are great!
Good video..what about then you get a fish on ..before your float comes up …can you tell …
Hi Den another nice video and love the fact your fishing and retired in Australia I'm 54 & would love that to be an option in the future. Would I be able use one in around 5ft/7ft of water and I do love the idea of using one of these more then the slider.
Thanks Martin. You could definitely use one in shallower water, especially if its very windy. Have a look at this video:czcams.com/video/oQlmvJ2VhUo/video.html Alternatively you can just use a normal waggler float in 5 feet or so of water. czcams.com/video/l4omnunNaAM/video.html
Great vid once more I do like a float and have tried the slip knot method but I am so rubbish with the knot, I end up using the method. Nice to see you used Chickpea been good for me this season.
Thanks Phill.
Let the float take up the slack, then tighten to float is a better and quicker way of setting float
Yes, that would be the normal way of doing it, but on this occasion I was clipped up, so I needed a few turns on the reel, just in case the fish bolted. (I needed the clip to get the float in exactly the right place for the zoom camera to be able to see it).
Nice one den. Locslide is better. I know as I have 10. By the way, you can get them in 4 foot depths, so not just for deep venues. 😮
Thanks Paul. I really don't have a preference for Polaris or Locslide, so viewers should feel free to try both. In shallow water, I don't even use one of these type of floats. I use a normal waggler fixed in position. I did a video on this some time ago. Here's the link: czcams.com/video/l4omnunNaAM/video.html 😁😁👍👍
👍
What I worry in this case is small weight of lead will not make auto-hook when carp take the bait, and you may lost the fish ?
Not at all its a running ledger and feeder it pulls the line through the swivel thus pulling the float down, and no line bites!
As Robert said, this is a running line technique, not a bolt rig. Think of it in exactly the same way as fishing with a Waggler float. You strike when the float goes under. I hope that clarifies things.😁😁👍👍
Are u past the cricket grounds at RT
No. I'll PM you mate.
Novice here. Can you use the Polaris with a heli- rig. Might be a dumb question!
Hi mate. I'm not sure why you would want to use a Heli Rig with it. I have certainly never felt the need.
Plus, not mastered that twizel boom! Need another look at that. Cheers fella.
I don't bother with the feeder just a Preston inline match cube of 15 grammes I might try an inline method feeder at some point though Den
Hi Barbara, I tend to make a decision on whether to use a bomb or a feeder based on the distance I am fishing and how accurate I need to be with the feed. Using a feeder makes it a bit easier for less experienced anglers, because it is automatic feeding, but that does also have a potential downside, in that sometimes it is possible to overfeed. Of course, you can always swap between a larger or smaller feeder, or even changing to a bomb during the session if you feel you need to vary the amount of feed going in.
Beautiful place there ,, where is this
?
I'm in New South Wales Australia these days Steve.
@@FishingwithDen Have you recently gone to Australia Den?..or have you been there a while?
@@FishingwithDen .. thanks so much ,, carry on with your fun 👍😎👍🔥👍
@@googleisshittoss Been here for just over 7 years now mate. I came over on retirement and I love it.
@@FishingwithDen Nice one. Are there any species in Oz that make fishing there unique?...That might be an interesting future video?
Ever worry about crocodiles?
I did when I arrived here Tom, but luckily the nearest crocodiles are about 1000kms further North. Phew! Its only the Bull Sharks I worry about now.🤣🤣👍👍
@@FishingwithDen good to hear, those crocs will chase you down mate, stay safe. Keep up the good work.
@@tomhill9934 Thanks Tom. You're up late mate.
@@FishingwithDen too hot for me mate, struggling to sleep.
Useless in heavy weed. Depends on the type of weed. Swimfeeder snags like crazy. Pity.
Depending on the type of weed growth, I would probably use a slider float setup. I have a venue where the water is very clear and weeds do grow up from the bottom, so by using the slider I can keep the bait at whatever height is required.
