Ledger Weights Feeders and Groundbait - How Long Do They Take to Get to the Bottom? Lets Measure it!

- In deeper waters, its very important to know how long it takes for Ledger Weights, Feeders and Groundbait to get to the bottom. Why? Because, it you don't know, you might be fishing a long way from your loosefeed or groundbait. You might also be missing out on finding underwater fish holding features. If that happens, your catch rates will be massively reduced.

Good video Den.I don't have access to this depth of water. Most informative 😊
Thanks Den. Really useful 👍
Another well presented video and very interesting informative finding out the different sinking rates for the bomb for different size feeders when empty and full. Keep the good work up and the videos coming
Thanks Bob. Much appreciated mate.😁😁👍👍
Very useful information den!
Thanks Michael.
Very interesting Den
Cheers Bri.😁😁👍👍
Loving your work Den.
Thanks Dave.😁😁👍👍
Merry ckristmas and happy New year Den !👍👋🍺
Merry Christmas to you too Danny. Thanks for watching all my videos over the years mate. 😀👍
Great vid . You just made my brain hurt with all those calcs :)
🤣🤣👍👍That's what happens to us as we get older Phill.
I always look forward to your video's Den. Although they make me jealous we don't have those opportunities in Western Australia Australia.
If you ever come over to NSW Rob, look me up and we can have a day out fishing.
hi Den. Great tutorial info and tips.
No recent posts so I hope you are ok?
Happy New Year.
Thanks Francis. I'm all good mate. First there was Christmas, and then I was out testing baits and techniques. I have had to keep making small changes to what I was doing each time I went out fishing, so there wasn't much to video until I have a final answer.
@@FishingwithDen Glad to hear it.
Hello Den, sounding out the water is the most important thing when feeding. When I come to an unknown body of water, I always take my time. I always use a stopwatch.
Hi Ralf. I have a stopwatch now too mate.😁😁👍👍
Den, you're like a clever fox@@FishingwithDen 🤣🤣
@@ralfmuentnich 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍
Tommy Pickering method , from years ago, 1oz bomb cast out and do a fast count to find the depth, you cant go by seconds,
You need a fast count.
I tried that Ian, but I still couldn't get it accurate, so now I use a Stopwatch.
Interesting experiment. Do you think the drag from various baits, like sweetcorn, lobworms or boilies, would be likely to materially effect the results?
Thanks Christopher. I think, for the size of feeders I was using, there wouldn't be any massive effect, but it could be different with smaller, lighter feeders.
With no flow Den no matter what weight you use if clipped up and time it takes to reach bottom it will still be the same in accuracy cos your line stretch dictates and volume of resistance dictates where it rests,so a lead and loaded feeder will be different in time but not that much. Was not this vid about working out depth? Bit confused!!
Hi Robert. I'm not really sure what you are getting at here. A loaded feeder took 17.9 seconds to reach the bottom, but a lead took only 6 seconds, so there was a actually a very large differential.
Your feeder mix will contain a small amount of air, so it adds buoyancy to the equation.
@@peterream9437 That's true Peter. There are a number of variables in this equation, which also includes the size of the feeder and the amount of bait it contains.
As long as it catches you fish Mr Saunders....that's all that matters 😉
And your method's certainly do... Have a good weekend.
Tight lines Den
@@peterream9437 No worries Peter. I always have room for improvement though mate.👍👍
Where are you??
Near Newcastle in New South Wales mate.
I mean where's your videos, am I missing them?
@@petefletcher2993 LOL. I took some time off for a while before and during Christmas. I should be starting again in the next couple of weeks.
I was beginning to worry about you Den and am glad you will be back soon
All the best.
