Commenting several years late... but you are a very good teacher. Presently I accompany the ordinary chants and hymns as an amateur organist. I have the same attitude as you: ideally for occasional interludes and postludes I prefer to play something liturgically appropriate. I spend a great deal of time looking for pieces based off of our final hymn tune for a final postlude/meditation - and that is another matter completely, but simply improvising based off of the given propers is an excellent idea. Thanks for fleshing out your method. I'll look through your material for other videos, but I have to say once again: you sir are an excellent teacher. I encourage you to continue you making similar videos or even courses online.

Very nicely done video. I've been working up for a Grandorgue setup. Grandorgue is a free version of Hawptwerk. I am very happy with the sample sets that they have and honestly better than paying money. Right now, I also have 2 casio keyboards. One which has midi and one that doesn't. I also use 2 expression pedals for crescendo and swell and 3 "toe studs." The 3 toe studs are sustain pedals. It may not be beautiful, may not be professional, but it works. I also have it hooked up to a massive audio system. I am currently in the process of buying a pedalboard.

I love this hymn. The organist at my church played it similarly growing up. Every time he played it, it sounded like flowing water. He is no longer with us. I wish I had a recording.

Went to two Pentecost masses in Florida and did not hear one note of this beautiful chant. One place was a cathedral.😢

Great new setup, and no duct tape was harmed in the building of the new PC! 😅 What version of windows did you decide to run? Are you annoyed yet at the little on line license check Hauptwerk has to run when loading? 😊 I think the raw video audio sounds great. Now all you need is a 20'' powered subwoofer for those 16' & 32' stops. My 32' stops really came alive when I added a 15'' sub and a low. Frequency isolation amp to drive it. 🎉

Steve has been a dear friend since our days at the CIA. Steve brought my guitar playing to an amazing new level. I eventually was invited to play guitar & harmonica with him locally in the Hudson Valley. We did many caterings together and he & Rachel played at our wedding back in '98. I lost count of how many times we went to the Martin Guitar Factory together. He helped me pick out my first Martin, and then cracked me up when he would continually bug me about selling it to him. We lost touch around 2010, and since Steve wasn't really an Internet guy, trying to track him down was next to impossible. I only found out a few months ago when I Googled him again that he passed. My wife & I are crushed. Thank you for sharing your cover of his song. It was always amazing sitting in the same room with him and listening to his guitar & vocal talent. I recently dug out some old recordings he made. Looking to digitize them and get them uploaded to CZcams very soon. Thank you again, Al

I am 56yo, when I was a teenager I was taught a chant, I cannot remember the words. the beginning notes are c d f f e d e / f g g a g / g a g f / g f e e .....the words went something like Nos-tro rey...so la ti.... om nei dor ey doos......can anyone help me find what this chant was?
