- Introit for the 9th Sunday After Pentecost, Ecce Deus, presented with rudimentary phrasing suggestions (green is "bigger" phrase, red is "smaller" phrase).
Important note: the purpose here is to provide a basic interpretation that is textually and melodically sensitive, bringing out the meaning of the chant in an engaging yet accessible way for the parish schola. This is not a scholarly semiological treatment. Don't like it? No problem. There are as many interpretations as there are semiologists and schola directors, so feel quite free to ignore this if it doesn't suit your scholarly understanding of "correct" interpretation of chant according to your whims and research ;-)
Mea culpa: evidently I severely misframed the singer on the viewer's left. Alas.
Goosebumps
This is wonderful and heavenly!!!! These introits put evangelical praise and worship songs to shame!
Wow, I was studying this introit just now! Greetings from the Brazilian Northeast!
What is the meaning of Euouae?
It is the vowel sounds of "saecula saeculorum. Amen," the end of the Gloria Patri. While the psalm tones are always the same for the respective mode, the endings sometimes vary, so that's how they chose to indicate which ending to use.

Hello from Australia. I am 56yo, when I was a teenager I was taught a chant, I cannot remember the words. the beginning notes are c d f f e d e / f g g a g / g a g f / g f e e .....the words went something like Nos-tro rey...so la ti.... om nei dor ey doos......can anyone help me find what this chant was?
16th Sunday of Ordinary Time.
This is for the old rite
@@javonijackson4642 No. It is for both. Ecce Deus will be used this coming Sunday in both the EF and OF. I dropped the comment so people looking for the proper chants in OF can find it.
@@admiralbob77 oh I see. It wasn’t a gotcha moment I was just trying to clarify.
