    • @TheWashboardResonators
      @TheWashboardResonators Před dnem

      You can move the whole cone within the well back towards the tailpiece. Twist it so the bridge is slightly further back on the bass side and restring and check. Could be that if you don’t have the adjustment left you’ll need someone to make a new biscuit and route a slot for the bridge further back.

    I've got two '34s, one has a Hawaiian Hula scene on the back that was painted in 1945. The other had a bone bridge fashioned for it at some point, which is amazing to me, because the original cones seemed to be put on with carpet tacks. The cone in that guitar is original and there's no apparent evidence of having been worked on. The B guitar sounded more like my Trojans. I think the different endpieces affect the timbre slightly also.

    If you want to go super nerdy, try swapping out coverplate styles. I was shocked when I put a nickel plated brass chicken foot coverplate on my Delphi. I think the changes you can get in timbre from small changes on resos is what keeps me fascinated with them. String material, slide material, fingers, picks, fingernails all give such dynamic differences, it's like having a harem of guitars with one instrument. But they're like potato chips(crisps) nobody eats just one.

When NRP started using their Hot Rod cone as the stock cone, it made a very positive difference in the sound of their instruments. Did you open up your vintage O when you got it? I think there was only two years they did it, but they used to put flocking in the sound well so the cone wouldn't rattle. It mellows out the timbre. My '33 has it. The thing that's the most amazing about the construction of the vintage Nationals is how the biscuit was attached. How the hell they did that without f-ing up the cone is mind boggling.(it's attached with what looks like carpet tacks)

    • @TheWashboardResonators

      Early ones are racks then they go to screws. The felt gasket thing is weird. There seems to be original factory ones occasionally through most of the 26-42 era. I’m not sure they were ever fitted as standard. Mine doesn’t have one. It’s a newer cone!

    • @TheWashboardResonators
      @TheWashboardResonators Před měsícem

      Agreed but terms in blues are quite liquid. Robert Johnson for instance has a one chord ‘hill country’ style song and more sophisticated Lonnie Johnson style songs but we’d call him delta blues. In this instance the video is to help get people started in playing blues out of a tuning. Real deep enthusiasts wouldn’t use this and would be isolating particular songs knowing the exact sub-genre they’re playing. Weirdly wgen out gigging and meeting people who use this Chanel to learn, this video is one of the most complimented ones. 🎼🎯🎼
