Aberaeron was planned until Ceredigion County Council took control of planning. The result is Colditz, an estate down by the promenade and the Mosque, which is officially called Penmorfa, formerly part of Pengarreg farm, the yard of which is now a retail centre. The Mosque is in fact the home of Ceredigion County Council and their planning department which is notorious nationwide for its horrendous planning decisions [including the mosque itself] but mainly for allowing cheap generic bungalows to be built willy nilly all over the county and the old brutalist water board building which is now our integrated health centre which does bugger-all integration and has itself gained a terrible reputation since moving there. It’s no longer fit for purpose. Not the building but the doctor’s practice.

The lifeboats have been saved! Two new state of the art boats have been dedicated and formerly handed over this May of 2024, having been delivered and used for up to the last year or so. The all weather big boy has been mostly donated by a potato farmer that has financed I think five around the UK coast. The inshore boat has largely been financed by a legacy and is named after the benefactor. Lets not forget all the people, local and otherwise, that raise money to finance this essential service and keep it going day to day, plus the brave volunteers that man them.

Just found this video some 9 months late. Great production. Llangrannog is great… in Winter when the tourists go home. The very narrow road down to the Pentre is a nightmare at peak traffic times as it has few passing places. The other issue is that it is mostly holiday homes, or at least used to be. Fairly sure that at one time this was a smugglers cove. Wasn’t Twm Sion Cati here or a very near cove?

Im 71 yrs old now, but as a young teen, maybe 14 or so yrs old, I do remember following one of the footpaths in the castle and seeing what I thought was a human leg bone sticking out of the bank on my right side. At that time, about the 1967 period all that was showing was about 4 or five inches of the bone and I thought perhaps I should report it, but then thought it cant be a human bone, so most probably from a cow or something like; yet I never ever forgot having seen it so it came as a big shock to hear the a skeleton had been discovered there in the castle some twenty years later, Now i feel quite stunned. Sad too, to see the place I got married now surrounded my scaffolding. Where has my life gone I ask, its just melted away.

I went to Yr urdd back in the later end of the 70's. Loved the whole experience, even swimming in the pool that had no heating next to the stable block. Oh and going for a bike ride, we got half way down the little lane from the camp down to the village when a hail storm began. Our instructor told us to go back cos the hail was the size of hazelnuts and the girls starting crying with the pain of being hit with them. So many more very fond memories of a 5 day stay at the camp. I've been back several times since the last being 30 years ago. Will go back sometime, if I can organise time to do the area justice.

Well done Miss HN, I too think Llangrannog is the No1 place to visit. I first went there in 1989 and returned so many times either camping or staying in the cottage that was owned by The Ship Inn, simply fell in love. We would go every January to enjoy a New Year break, I loved this village as much in the Winter as I did in the Summer I am ashamed to say that we did not know the story of Cranogwen, and that we haven't be back for 25 years !. Maybe Jan 24 we will meet up with a very old friend.

Thanks for another enjoyable video, we visited here in early May and its a lovely place, great food in Pentre, Caffi Patio and the pizza restaurant was fantastic. Its better to park at the top and walk down if you can, bus was not running when we were there. Its ok if able bodied and there are a few routes, just keep going down. A warning about the car park at the bottom, one evening we parked and the pay machine was out of action so could not use coins, there is no internet signal with some carriers and also no phone signal in the village. The wifi provided for the machine was so slow we were not able to use it so had to go into the pub to use theirs and by that time the ten minutes allowed to pay had expired and when we returned home had a bill for £100 as they use ANPR on entry. There are lots of complaints about this on line so if you are unable to pay on arrival leave the car park, I understand some local people are just as unhappy about this as visitors. Please keep making these videos when you can and have the time, we always look forward to the next one.

Thank you for your very informative video .I had never heard of Sarah Jane Rees (Cranogwen). Women definitely had it harder in those days, so that makes her life even more remarkable. I have never understood why women are often valued less than me or deemed less intelligent and women like Cranogwen go to show that there is absolutely no reason for men not to see them as equals.
