Bald eagles being jerks, at Big Beef Creek, Seabeck, Washington, 28 May 2024
zhlédnutí 233Před měsícem
Despite the abundance of seafood available for the bald eagles on this stretch of beach at low tide, the bald eagles continue to chase each other for food. But much of the time they just act like jerks even though food isn't involved. Perhaps they are demonstrating dominance. Perhaps they are playing. Or, perhaps, they are just being jerks. Recorded with 7 cameras in a farmer's field outside Ascot Corner, Quebec. Several of my eclipse-chasing friends joined me; those are the voices speaking English. The owners of the property and some of their neighbors joined me too; those are the voices speaking French. The 3 minutes, 23 seconds of totality is shortened to 1 minute, 35 seconds by omitting portions where there wasn't any interest...

14 October 2023 annular eclipse fixed exposure time lapse
zhlédnutí 70Před 8 měsíci
Before the eclipse my wife asked me how dark it would get during annularity. That's an excellent question. Like the human eye, cameras with automatic exposure don't show how much the light is dimming. This time lapse does. I shot a series of photos every 15 seconds at a fixed exposure starting at the beginning of the eclipse and running until the end. That's a very dramatic darkening, although ...

Wow!
So freaking cool! I just saw this for my first time it was beautiful with my naked eye in Las Vegas I even asked a random person hey does that light look strange ha ha
At the very least, they are having a great time.
❤
Oh my. This is really something. What an amazing celestial event, and the post-production is quite good. Bravo, Evan 🤗🤩
Evan, this is so cool. I just watched it on my big screen tv & it's mind-blowing!
Hi Evan. great video. Can I use a part of it in my graduate research work citing you. It is non commercial use. Thank you.
Great shot!
I’m a Bluenose-er. Many summers spent as a child in and around Medford Beach NS. Many summers spent looking for the folks responsible for constantly pulling the plug in the Bay of Fundy. Always fascinating to watch the rise & fall of the Fundy tides & the incredible drops the ships experience when tied up to Fundy wharfs.
I rode my motorcycle from Ohio to Nova Scotia back in 2013. What a great trip. Those Canadians sure were nice folks. Alma was really cool. We camped at the Provincial park there. I walked into town for a burger and a couple of beers. Great times.
Gravity is a wicked thing.
Well done! So you didn't filter the A1? I'm surprised the sensor didn't fry!
If you are a tide fan, and you have a chance to go to France, it is worth visiting the Breton cities on the Channel, in particular the city of St. Malo/ St. Servan at the mouth of the River Rance, and the town of Cancale, 30 km or so to the east, which is on the Baie de Mont St Michel. The tides at the new and full moon on this section of the channel can approach 15 meters. It is really quite astonishing, and after living there for awhile, it was very absorbing to see how many aspects of daily life were tuned to the rhythms of the tides. N.B. that Cancale is one of the planetary epicenters of luxury oysters. After meditating on the advance and retreat of the Channel tides, it is more or less required that one further absorb a dozen or two of the fabulous huitres Cancalaise, along with a baguette, the famous sweet butter of the region and a bottle or two of Muscadet at one of the restaurants on the seaside. If you are there anyway, there is no downside to enjoying a few langoustines, the smaller and more delicately flavored Breton cousin of the lobster. The day after experiencing this genuine marvel, which costs pennies (centimes) compared to other profound experiences, like visiting the pyramids, or traveling to Antarctica, one can depart one's inn, in the region (which abound), and visit Mont St Michel itself. There, from the ramparts of the abbey, the sight of the tide sweeping in over the vast sands uncovered at low tide, at the speed, it is said, of a galloping horse, is something I have fixed in my mind, even after 60 years.
I always understand that those are my loved ones coming to me from heaven to let me stay with them and the will ALWAYS be with me no matter what
This is one of my favorite places on earth,it’s magical.
Gotta love a 5 hour to 30 second time lapse !! So awesome that we are able to witness something as natural, and awe inspiring as an incoming tide from the comfort of home! Thank you !
Thanks for your comment!
I’m glad we don’t get this crazy happenings here in America, a real Country!
Holy moly!
How do flat earth folks explain this?
Tidal surges can be dramatic.
I've never been to the Bay of Fundy, but I was in Katmai, Alaska, and there were places you could watch the water moving up the beach. One minute you're standing on dry ground and five minutes later you're in water up to your knees.
We’ve been to Alma and Fundy National Park several times. Always a memorable trip, and a lovely time!
And then the earth flooded.
That was really Fun…dy to see
Very nice. I hope to experience that one day 👍
beautiful thank you
Who needs a dry dock to do anti-fouling!
I was at Alma once at low tide. I wasn't there long enough to see the tide come in. Thanks for filling in a blank
That was a good shot of the train of them. We saw them in October 2023 in central PA for the first time. Freaked me out cause I didnt know anything about them. Now I watch for them and the ISS.
Finally 👍🏼
This is fantastic. I am glad to see the video.
Thanks!
Nice time-lapse of the eclipse.
That is an interesting time-lapse. Been wanting to make one like it myself.
I recall a similar situation that occurred several years ago. We placed a large board in the pond, and the ducklings were able to climb out.
Even compared to other bird brained creatures, this group is on the slow side of the bell curve.
Wow! Evan, you should set this to music!
Thanks! I was thinking of that. I've had some problems licensing music through Facebook. I'll give it another try.
@ezucker the music 🎶 adds to the experience! Sweet!
Beautiful.💚
Thankyou for saving baby duck trying too

He left town to avoid paying child support. 😀
That was hilarious 😂
Very nice! What was the settings and focus area you used? Thank you!
I used the iPhone 12 Max Pro time lapse mode, and so everything was automated.
