Aurora 14mm time lapse chronological sequence. May 10-11, 2024, Cle Elum Lake, Washington

This is a compilation of 24 time lapses of the aurora from 9:49 PM to 2:16 AM PDT. The first 5 seconds of each time lapse is included. You can see the aurora starting off relatively quietly, then increasing in brightness, color and amount of movement beginning around 10:52 PM. Around 1:01 AM the speed and amount of movement of the aurora significantly increased further, creating a stroboscopic effect.
The original time lapse sequences consist of 8,191 individual photos, each taken with a Sony A1, Sony 14mm lens at f/1.8, ISO ranging from 1600-4000, and shutter speed ranging from 1/8 second to 1 second.
