Instead on non-tending guys, try trading them to other teams for cash or guys who are being paid the league minimum! Shortstops with high defensive ratings usually have high value in the CPU's eyes. For example, Noah Miller could be traded for an RP on the minimum and additional cash. One less bullpen arm that you'll have to sign in FA and money to put towards development or draft budget.

I personally would not trade a high potential young catcher, even if he will probably strike out a lot in the future. The only way I'd get rid of that guy is if I was a playoff contender and needed an MLB upgrade ASAP. That Catcher could develop his hitting skills more beyond what his potential says. In a couple years, he could be a good defensive catcher that hits 25+ home runs. Tons of value in that, especially during his cheap controllable years! Love you Foolish!

You think that you brew on this team enough? It sure must nice up in the front office with all the job security in the world while us fans have waited 10 years to see the postseason. 10 years without any superstar talent, no true aces, and no hope. Extend Owen Murphy and trade him, hes cheap! You're going to have to spend money at some point on players. You're getting too obsessed with stats too. Giving up on Griffin so early is a headscratching move.

One thing I found out is that at the MLB level, the only thing that really matters is the “Teach Hitting” stat for Hitting Coaches, and “Pitcher Type/Teach Pitching” for the pitching coaches. With scout, use the best guy with neutral focus. If no one good is available, use the best “favor tools” guy. In the minors, managers should be just taken by DEV rating. HC’s should be contact and patience up until AAA, where you can use whatever. Power doesnt develop until really late so don’t bother teaching it until your guys are MLB-ready. PC’s are the same. Get one who is either neutral or a ground ball guy until AAA, then you can use a power pitching coach if your guys are mostly those. NEVER use finesse arms, they’re by far the worst and same goes for the coaches. Yap session over

I like the look of the team this year! I also really hope you spend more money on development and scouting, especially because you always seem to note players not turning out the way they should and prospects you don't care about being valued really highly in trade discussions. Maybe that means other teams have bad scouts, but it's not like your scouting has uncovered any serious steals. I hope you keep your proven hitters around for team control reasons and invest more into development so you can have your prospects come into their own. John Fisher isn't ever going to change his tune so you really have to go Moneyball 2 on them. One tip to note is you seem to have figured out there's a huge difference between 45 CA stats and 50 CA stats, and while I think that's true across the board this year, it also speaks to a scout who isn't really doing what he needs to do which is accurately assess talent. There's likely guys who are being overvalued by your scouting team that end up way underperforming because of 45 being the "quad A" rating and 50 being the "2-war guy, easy!" rating this year. Scouts are much cheaper than two months of Ezequiel Tovar with a team option that will inevitably be declined.
