Louis CK's "I Love You, Daddy" | Unpacking the Drama Behind his Banned Comedy | The Unreleasables
zhlédnutí 1KPřed 7 měsíci
By 2017, Louis CK had conquered the world of stand-up comedy and won himself serious acclaim for his provocative television series “Louie.” But the big screen proved a different story. CK had managed to direct only a single film, 2001’s “Pootie Tang,” which he also wrote. Lacking the name power he would later obtain, CK was unable to prevent Paramount from essentially throwing him off the proje...
The UFO Deluge of July 4th, 1947 | Part 1: Omens (Before the Storm)

Tuesday. June 24th. 1947. Flying over Washington’s rugged Cascade Mountains at 3 PM, Idaho businessman Kenneth Arnold encountered nine saucer-shaped “planes” slashing across the sky at incredible speeds. They moved unlike any aircraft he’d ever seen before, weaving and flipping with remarkable ease. Arnold’s mid-air sighting would give birth to the iconic phrase “flying saucers” - and it would ...
Who is the Columbia Pictures Torch Lady? | Into the Logo-Verse

When you think of national symbols for America, what images spring to your mind? Uncle Sam? The Stars and Stripes? A bald eagle? The White House? All timeless American icons, but I’m willing to bet you didn’t think of a goddess-like, toga-clad, Greco-Roman warrior woman named “Columbia.” Step back in time by two hundred years, however, and the female character known as Columbia occupied a huge ...
Searching for the REAL Paramount Mountain | Into the Logo-Verse

Paramount Pictures lays claim to an embarrassing wealth of popular films - the Top Gun movies, Forrest Gump, the Godfather, and of course the Star Trek and Mission Impossible franchises. Paramount also lays claim to a legendary studio logo the indomitable image of a majestic, snow-capped mountain peak ringed by stars. But few film fans know that a real Paramount mountain exists. Actually, a pai...

It’s a triumph of simplicity and elegance. That puffy white ghost inside the red “no symbol” has been the central defining image of the entire Ghostbusters franchise, gracing countless mugs, t-shirts, and posters. Speaking of posters, the legendary “no ghost logo” made one of its earliest appearances on the 1984 teaser poster, which promised audiences that our heroes were “coming to save the wo...

Growing up in the 80s and 90s was a magical time for many reasons, none more so than the abundance of classic TV shows from Nickelodeon. A wild and rambunctious network, Nickelodeon connected with young people by refusing to speak down to them. Rugrats. You Can’t Do That on Television. Ren and Stimpy. Are You Afraid of the Dark? Clarissa Explains It All. These shows broke new ground, proving th...

Over this remarkable history, the logo has undergone major technological updates, such as ...
It ISN'T a Lightning Bolt | The Truth Behind the Touchstone Pictures Logo
zhlédnutí 14KPřed rokem
Touchstone Pictures was born out of the Disney studio’s urgent need to expand their reach beyond the usual family demo. Movies in the 70s and 80s were getting edgier, pushing boundaries in ways that left Walt Disney Productions on the verge of spiraling into G-rated irrelevance. But the studio faced a big challenge - how to embrace films that skewed older and more mature while still honoring th...
Remembering the WB Family Entertainment Logo | When Warner Bros. Took On Disney for Family Audiences

From Free Willy and The Iron Giant to Batman and The Animaniacs, Warner Bros. Family Entertainment shaped much of 90s pop culture, leaving a huge impact on kids everywhere. For those of us who grew up back then, seeing Bugs Bunny himself posed against the Warner Bros. shield was always a special moment. We saw that logo a heck of a lot, whether in the movie theater or plopped in front of our ow...

Orion Pictures was the new kid on the Hollywood block in 1978, an ambitious studio that gave the world such action classics like The Terminator, Robocop, and First Blood. Not only that, Orion practically owned the Oscars, winning four Best Pictures in a s...

Can a movie logo be just as iconic as the movies that followed it? The 90s era Disney logo answers a definitive YES. That legendary image of a segmented castle against a sky-blue background, paired with an unforgettable rendition of “When You Wish Upon a Star,” makes the Walt Disney logo of the 1990s one for the ages. It's a potato chip
My favorite version of the Columbia Pictures logo is the Sunburst/Abstract Torch that started in 1976 and ran to 1981, wherein a 70s version of what would be the 80s Lady was seen, and the camera zoomed up past it into the Torch; the Torch light was seen in the form of the Sunburst, which condensed from the 26 rays it had upon appearance into the top half of 13 rays in white in a blue crescent (the Abstract Torch), w/the Columbia Pictures name under it (a shorter, faster version [with just the condensing Sunburst] being used for Columbia Pictures Television, w/an orange crescent). Both the Columbia Pictures and Columbia Pictures Television logos had music from Suzanne Ciani which was (and still is) very well remembered as well. Here's the blue-crescent movie version: czcams.com/video/XOyl9hxkQao/video.html&pp=ygUWQ29sdW1iaWEgUGljdHVyZXMgMTk3Ng%3D%3D And here's the orange-crescent television version, from the bottom of T.J. Hooker in 1982: czcams.com/video/8KGVu2Jns4k/video.html&pp=ygU6c3BlbGxpbmcgZ29sZGJlcmcgcHJvZHVjdGlvbnMgY29sdW1iaWEgcGljdHVyZXMgdGVsZXZpc2lvbg%3D%3D
While you thought it was a lightning bolt, I always thought to myself it was a rocket or a battleship flying out of a planet
Some people actually think that the modern Columbia Torch Lady is Annette Bening. NOPE
Fascinating material, but I could only get through it with the sound on mute. Hiring someone else to narrate would improve your video considerably. It would make a world of difference.
As soon as I see the title I was like, 'Oh! It's a scratch! That makes sense'
You deserve many more views than 911 as of this writing. I had a chance to interview Jerry Bruckheimer some 20+ years ago and asked him about the tree lightning logo. And that is what he told me as you described it in the video.
I like the version of this logo where she killed 2 zombies with her torch in Zombieland.
What about GP?
As an '80s kid, looking back and learning that movies like "Tron" and "Something Wicked This Way Comes" was viewed as failures is tough to process. Tron is still viewed as a classic, and Something Wicked This Way Comes was Ray Bradbury, doggonit.
This was a cool video, never knew anything about Touchstone other than the movies but now I feel like I know mostly everything.
looks like meteorites
OK!
"Trenchcoat" in 1983 didn't even go out with the label of Walt Disney Productions. Just a "Distributed by Buena Vista Distribution Co." credit at the end was the only thing that connected it to Disney. It is sort of a spiritual predecessor to Touchstone Films.
and stakeout starring..... jeff foxworthy?
I’m so happy to have found your channel. Movie logos have been an obsession of mine since I was a little kid.
Can someone send this to Nick mason of the weekly planet podcast?
😂 I never knew Touchstone had anything to do with Disney. I always liked the jingle and sound it had when it came on before a movie.
Great vid, one suggestion tho, just back the camera a feet back when doing the self shots. The shots just feel a little too into ones personal space, if that makes sense.
Wtf does this have to do with the logo? Why is your face / mouth so wet? Why are your eyes so glassy? You need a doctor.
Global warming has shed the ice on the Paramount logo from round to pointy thin over the years. The end is nigh.
If we still had the 80's rating system The Saw sequels would all be rated X
It's obvious what the logo is. The name is self-explanatory.
So its a touchstone who knew To me it looks more like a glimmer of sun on water
To me it looked like a rock being thrown. 😂
I always remember the colors of the 90’s Paramount logo. They strangely always made me feel uncomfortable as a kid, for some unexplainable reason.
I never knew that I wanted to know this LOL Great video!
IMO, I feel like perhaps it unintentionally depicts a touchstone that caught lightning? There exists a term for insane success called "catching lightning in a bottle" & Touchstone Pictures clearly had a whole lotta success. Plus, lightning can be QUITE powerful. It's an insanely fast bolt of energy that can get anything it touches to either crumble in defeat or get some WILD energy increase as seen in Back To the Future. Real gold may produce a wonderful looking yellow, but the marks of a lightning bolt are far more intense. Dangerous even if one's not careful! But when it hits that touchstone without breaking the touchstone, the added mark can be considered by some to be an absolute sight to behold. Catching lightning in a bottle? That's nothing to catching lightning on a touchstone!
No shit
Warner Bros. Family Entertainment was a great division of Warner Bros. The logos used by movies and television shows made by Warner Bros.
MGM revived the Orion name for both movie and television in 2013.
Lightning? I thought it was a meator shower.
Same.
Funnily enough, Planet of the Apes had a G rating, despite some profanity, violence, and nudity. There's never really been a consistent guideline for rating movies in the US.
There were no ratings when Planet of the Apes was first released. That film was released in April of 1968 and the ratings system was first applied later that year in November. The G rating was slapped on during re-releases. If you search for original posters for that film you'll find no rating in the image at all.

Whenever I saw a Disney logo I steered away but TRON was the exception because it was good, I'm glad Disney was struggling it just proves they are incapable of anything original which is why they needed to buy IP's like Star Wars and Marvel.
My Science Project is one of my favorite films from the 80's. It's also one of my most prized DVD's. Glad I have it too since it's not on any streaming service at this time, just a few poor quality uploads on youtube.
It never even occurred to me that it was a lightning bolt, ever. I had no idea what it was supposed to be, but I thought feather or the swirl inside a marble or a woodgrain pattern of some kind. But the real answer makes a bit more sense.
I thought it was a rock or a meteor or something lol
What about the one where you get to see that tinkerbell made the arc
Jerry Brookhimer also revived the first name of the company before Don Simpson died for other flims like Bad Boys 4 Life. He also did the CSI TV series with CBS Studios (Fromerly CBS Paramount Television and Paramount Television) The tree logo that Jerry Brookhimer still used to this day is the best logo that is ever seen.
They made 3 Ninjas maybe my favorite childhood movies growing up. Wow they really made there mark
Excalibur was produced by Orion. I have the VHS.
Yes, Arthur was a funny movie 😊
Gaumont is the oldest studio of the world still in activity since 1895. 🤴🏻
Get to the point, Aspergers!
Just found your channel, and I'm binge watching every single video youve made. Keep it up man! These videos are amazing!
I always thought the streak was a piece of tree bark as a kid, lol. 😂
I thought it was a rock going super fast.
One thing to note is that MASK OF THE PHANTASM wasn´t planned to be released theatrically. It was going to be straight to VHS. But, at the last minute, they told the producers that they wanted it theatrically so they had to change the video format (full screen to panoramic). That´s why there wasn´t any advertising it. As such, the movie underperformed. I seem to recall that Mark Hamill himself (voice of Joker) told a story that he went to watch it on theaters and the place was almost empty. ...I don´t recall this part correctly but I think that one of the atendees recognized him, and since the theater was so empty, Hamill asked him to sit next to him (or him and his wife).
I always thought it was a wood scrap
I always thought it was a meteor or something.
I thought it was a moon behidn a cloud lol
Paramount also has Titanic, the Naked Gun movies, & the Transformers movies under their belt.
I think this movie was made as a Netflix original movie!
Fun Fact: Lady Liberty isn't a lady. The statue of liberty is actually a staue of the light bearer also known as Lucifer. It was inspired by the famous painting the light bearer. If you notice the statue also has one foot shackled for a reason.
