Not going to hold anyone, ever since I got the timing chain replaced at 70k by the recall at BMW with the new timing part #'s my N20 has been solid. ( that was at 70k miles ) car is at 195k now. Change the oil and keep up with maintaince you will be fine. Just changed the valve cover a week ago, chain was tight & guides in place. A lot of misconceptions with this engine. It's also tuned stage 2.

CAN codes come up because SMG Control Unit goes off line to save adaptation values, power cycling. Though all those codes should clear right away, I've found DSC Module sometimes requires clearing twice and a power cycle to be in agreement lol.

Personally I'll never do a steel or brass pivot pin. The plastic works just fine. Brass is too soft and I'd be concerned steel is too hard. SMG is usually quite hard on the clutch mechanism which could lead to worn through release arm. Otherwise great job man. I wish i had a lift when i did my SMG refresh earlier this year. As much a it was fun, ot was also quite rough on jack stands

Thank you for this video. I have to replace my Power Steering Expansion Hose and have to remove or lower the subframe. Are there are other jobs you would recommend while the subframe is down? The engine mounts were changed 3 years and 32000km ago so I'm thinking they are OK to leave alone.

I just completed a alternator bracket gasket job, and followed this tutorial to the T and dropped my subframe, which made the job a lot easier. You guys are outstanding! You have a new sub!

I just removed my lower middle bearing looks new? My vanos line leaks so I'm doing it. 243,000Km on car never changed bearings. Oil change every 4,000 Km 10W60 Total.

Dum question, my e92 m3 has a cd burner (not sure if all of them do) I copied over 300 cds into the library. I’m assuming if install this upgrade I loose the library rite?

Can you use a normal 5 series e60 abs for the m5? Or does it need to be m5?
