I can't seems to see the commands properly and can't do it. Always show me error

I’m wondering…if I can do this internationally? Are all jobs like this with paper receipts? Will I be severely limited living overseas. Will return to states at some point but beginning abroad and want to see if it’s worth me putting in all the time and effort. Thank you!!

ugh... you said add a personal account... then you added your business account. *sigh ... I'm less confident that I can run the software now. smh... I don't know how to get some real instruction on running the software. I'm a kinesthetic learner so I have to do it before I do it, ya know. I thought this would help... back to searching for more hands-on practice.

Good stuff, I went into Add Client and entered my own name and address (so I can get practice using my own finances), hit Save, and it went back to the Clients screen, but it's as if nothing happened - there are no clients, there is no list of clients. What am I missing?

This is a very important video for those who are gung ho at beginning projects then, generally speaking, burn out fast, but that doesn't sound like you. So, I am wondering if perhaps the only thing you "failed" at is not creating a solid business plan. Many people don't see that as an incredibly crucial step and might only write up a couple of brief sheets as a brief overview. But a true biz plan is worth the effort because it means that all the sections within are well thought out, researched, and answer potential issues that can be addressed on paper FIRST. For instance, in the Marketing Plan section, you will have already hashed out who, what, where, and when including special events, dates, and holidays to offer introductory offers as well as reward programs, etc. monthly for an entire year. You then take that "marketing plan" and use it to enhance your pro forma - which is generally a 3-year financial forecast. This biz plan then becomes your reference Bible that shows where improvements can be made towards positive growth. But you have to be to writing and the plan. As you describe your Type A personality, your work ethic, your organizational skills, and more, I would definitely NOT call you a failure!! Perhap you just glossed over creating a true, really solid, business plan?

I'm in the process of starting my own bookkeeping business. I've over 30 years of accounting experience in the private sector. How did you deal with the food costs? Did you count it as Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)? Also, thanks for talking about Excel. I was under the impression that you had to deal with QuickBooks Online for Accountants (QBOA). I thought it was a mandatory type thing. I created an accounting system in the Excel environment (chart of accounts, trial balance, financial statements, etc.). It's not as robust as QuickBooks of course but it works for a small business.

How can we track expenditures for a specific period, say for a month using this template?

I set up the google sheet from your template but I can't change the number in the columns. It only lets me change the D column to 1000. How do I change this? If I enter my data here, can I save it, or do I need to start from the beginning on a google sheet?

I find your very easy to listen to. I was using QB online which I found difficult to do and I wanted to see how your system would work for a bank statement, and two credit cards. Does your system create balance sheet and P&L sheet?

Really, as a senior citizen it was one I could follow, it gives me what I need, simply enough, and although I had to figure it out on Excel, I’m still grateful for the setup. You are a great teacher. For anyone wanting to follow this but convert to Excel, here’s what worked for this newbie. When I saw this video was 2 yrs old, I wondered if it would still work for me… esp as I converted her free Google sheets file to Excel, as that is my preference. (I am new to this, can’t afford a bookkeeper, Quickbooks etc, and am trying a new online income source just to survive.) The Excel set up is already different at the first stage is … data validation. After an hour of struggling, and looking at the formula in the free converted sheet from Google Sheets, I realised I needed the cell range of the categories that she cut and paste into her data validation step. I went to the P & L sheet and first typed those and set it up, in the way I wanted them. Then on the Transactions sheet the data validation setting in Excel takes those cell numbers. Bingo. First hurdle conquered. The next hurdle was the sumif formula. I tried for a l o o o n g time, but all I got was error messages. Tried reading MS help pages, it’s all Greek to me. Then I realized that Excel actually walks you through that formula, by highlighting the part you’re working on. And it LOOKS the same, so I was really confused! But by pure good fortune, I happened to notice that (because I clicked on it while typing the formula) it put the name of the Transactions sheet into SINGLE INVERTED (‘sheetname’) commas! Bang, it worked. I typed =sumif into each cell and copied the code each time, changing the name of the category in the string. Donkey work, but hey, it was working, and I was not about to try something different at that stage. 😅 Later, I realised I’d omitted a category… when I inserted a row into the range on the P & L sheet and added the category, Excel auto fixed the validation data on the Transactions sheet.

All I’ll say is thank you for this video! I’m new to learning bookkeeping and I’d like to step into it and run my own business doing it. But I won’t lie, I often feel like it’ll be too difficult for me, but because you made this video showing what quickbooks does, my worries are a lot lesser now.

This is really good, I am currently studying to be a bookkeeper + Payroll advisor and surprisingly enjoying it, but its this type of content I needed to find, bc how do we enjoy it all, but then need to take testing and what to know before you get there, right? BC Intuit has a way of asking you questions in a different way, but applies to the topic in several different ways, so if you misstep you could get it wrong even thought you know the answer on HOW you learned it the the training. We all need a hands-on approach to learning QBO, there are tons of lessons on how to do it, but ACTUALLY doing it with no clients can be a bit of a tricky thing. So this video is great to put us in the mindset of what to expect - at the very least... YOu can usually take to clients very intelligently, but putting the skills into ACTION is the next step we need to fail and learn from so we get it right.

Really struggled doing this in excel as it is dirrerent to google sheets. Especially when pulling the totals to the expenses sumary. When i got the formula right i struggled to copy it to the next line as the column range changes.What am i doing wrong ?
