  • What type of clients can you expect to take on in your first year of bookkeeping? I list out the clients I currently have, how I got those bookkeeping clients, and what “category” they fall in as far as what type of work I do for them. Some are regular (monthly, quarterly) bookkeeping clients and others are tax prep clients, some are even setting up their business structure (LLC). It’s exciting to get to do different work for many different clients, hopefully this will help give you perspective as you get into bookkeeping!

I know more about Bookkeeping and Accounting than I know about Income Tax Preparation. With this in mind, I know someone else who prepares income taxes. I think I must refer my clients, if any, to someone who knows how to prepare income taxes while I still do Bookkeeping and Accounting for such clients. So far, I have one current client and one potential client. I also think what you said in the video was very helpful. I thank you for sharing it.

Way to go with keeping it simple! I know a lot of successful businesses that provide a few really fantastic goods or services rather than a plethora of mediocre ones. Heinz originally sold different soups now they focus on tomato products. In Austin, TX their is a place called the soup peddler that sells fresh soup and smoothies...just to name a couple of successful businesses that KIS (keep it simple). BTW, I must be hungry, lol.

This is a great method for not spreading yourself too thin! Focus on what you know and what you do best :)

So how many clients do you have total for the next year so far(so not just tax return clients) and what income will this bring you? Thank you for sharing all you do! I'm in Southern Virginia too. Not sure if you know of the Prince Edward area.

I went through a period of time this year where I had no clients, and that was rough. But now I have two and both will pay around $1,000/month, potentially more.

Do you have a video on how to get clients? Because that’s my #1 struggle ☹️
