LIVING ON THE LAND | A life In The Northern Forest
Wandering through the forest, a life dictated by the rhythm of the land. It's been 47 days since I left the comfort of civilization to spend my time living amongst the trees and lakes that make up this landscape. A life now dictated by the winds, the rain and the sun. A simple life, yet I long for nothing. My belly always full, I am content out here. With my husky by my side, I spend my days discovering all the secrets so few ever have the chance to discover. Dinners over the fire, an abundance of fish for sustenance and the call of Loons are now the norm.

BACON AND EGGS In The Hammock Camp | Cast Iron Skillet Cooking
zhlédnutí 2,1KPřed 4 lety
Up at 4:30 AM to enjoy the longest day of the year, I had breakfast and coffee on within the hour. The skies are still threatening rain, it seems like that's been the pattern for a week now but it held off until my belly was full. I took advantage of my cast iron skillet to cook up a mess of Bacon, Eggs and toast from my homemade bread. Everything tastes better out here and even more so on the ...
SOLO HAMMOCK & TARP Overnight Camp In A THUNDERSTORM

This was a simple camp setup with hammock and tarp in high winds, rain and a ton of thunder and lightning. I managed to capture some of the storm but with lighting virtually everywhere and through the night, didn't want to risk being exposed or destroying my equipment. The rain was pelting a times and the winds likely topped 30 MPH. Managed to stay nice and dry in my hammock and tarp setup thou...

There's something special about rainy days here at the cabin. The constant background noise of rain hitting the metal roof and falling into the lake. The forest seems to smell better too! Temperature reached a high of 16 degrees celsius with a low of 12 degrees celsius coming tonight. Up early today, lots to get done. Enjoy!

The calming Boreal Forest is basking in the glow of the sun as another day begins. Time standing still as at the insects, songbirds and ducks do what they've done for thousands of years. VOLUME UP. Pretty cool campsites entertainment as multiple CANADAIR CL-415 bombers attack forest fires near Haven Lake, Woodland Caribou Provincial Park in the summer of 2018. Find any pipe of 2.5" diametar (or same as stove pipes), cut it under the angle of the tent (app 45 degrees) and transfer the ellipse opening to the metal, cut an ellipse opening (not circle). That`ll do. 🙂

Should maybe think about training the dog to pull your wood uphill, and also, maybe think about building your new accommodation underground. Less wood. Also, look at homebiogas, for sewage/gas, or any other company that sells the same.

You removed the potato from that canvas bag like it was the Hope Diamond...lol. Good to see you're alive, man. I thought maybe a BC samsquatch got the best of you. Or more likely, a chupacabra..I hear they're on the rebound since c19. Sadly it's taken me this long to recognize you're return to YT. I used to pop by once in awhile, but gave up about a year after you sold RLO. Then c19 and the rest is a wash. But what I really want to say is, I'm super happy for you and that you kept the title of Olive L Outpost and Claire wasn't able to shove you out! Good for you, Harlan. What a dream spot. WCPP is easy living (not referring to the sweat equity and build of the outpost) Pick a spot on any shoreline and you're lighting a fire within minutes, and eating walleye shortly after that. My profile photo is me holding a plate of fresh walleye caught on Glenn Lake. F*ck I miss that place so much. If I ever return, which I hope to, I'll definitely look you up and see if you're kicking it in there. We'll get together for a fish fry and sit around the campfire telling old war stories. Merry Christmas, Harlan.

Oh, and this demonstration gives one just a slight glimpse of why those trapped with Donner family during the infamous California winter of 1845-46 couldn't just easily walk out of their snowbound situation - as they didn't have proper snowshoes or gear and the snow was FAR deeper than in this video. Great demonstration!
