Harvesting And Cooking Grouse Over The Fire In The Forest With my HUSKY Dog.

Throwing it back to last fall, I figured I'd publish this footage of a day out hunting, harvesting, and cooking Grouse over the open fire with Kito in the Boreal. We hunted close to the border of Woodland Caribou Provincial Park and enjoyed a cool fall day of exploring and harvesting these tasty birds. Kito performed well, flushing several birds and managing not to destroy a single one (a first for her). She earned her meal today, one she sure looked to enjoy.
I am continually amazed at the resource we have at our footsteps and the ability of the forest to provide everything we need to thrive. Today was Grouse, but it very well could have been Moose or Black Bear or Beaver or a host of other critters.
While back country paddling is our passion and we have an affinity for the natural world, sometimes we need to get back to our roots and harvest our own food. Unlike the grocery store, I know exactly how this meat was handled and how fresh it was!
