    That's pretty sad to be overheating on a trail. Does the heat exchanger go all the way to the rear of the tunnel? Right at the rear curve of the track is where the most snow is thrown. I have a 2016 backcountry 600 etec that just fryed a ECM, why don't they know. so I figure dependability is gone now. Season will be over by the time we get an ECM. I was looking at a backcountry 600 EFI. Is overheating going to be an issue with that engine?

    • @mop1471
      @mop1471 Před 6 měsíci

      The heat exchanger extends pretty far back, but not right to the edge. Since the 2021 recall, overheating really hasn't been a problem at all. It'll happen if I'm moving at low speeds and stopping alot (which I sometimes do because I'm filming these videos!) Never overheats during regular riding.

    • @mop1471
      @mop1471 Před 8 měsíci

      I've never had ski-skins on this Expedition, but I've tired them on a Tundra. Different experience: the skins won't sink at all because they're super-wide. The DS2 will sink, which can be helpful in some situations. If you intend to tip your sled on its side to get through difficult terrain, DS2 is better. If you're going to keep your sled upright, with both skis on the ground, ski-skins all day.

    • @mop1471
      @mop1471 Před rokem

      Oh my! The good news is that your 600 EFI has a 'classic' ignition switch, meaning there is no expensive 'chip in the key' or anything expensive like that. A new ignition switch would have to include a key - how else would you operate it! First step is to try to dislodge whatever is jamming the ignition. I would try using a strong magnet, which may extract metallic objects stuck in the ignition. If that doesn't work, very fine screwdrivers or picks may be inserted to try to clear the obstruction. If you can't dislodge whatever is in there, then replace the ignition switch. It's just an old-fashioned key switch. My '21 Expedition's ignition switch is part number 515177063 and costs $59 up here in Canada. You'll have to remove the upper bodywork to gain access under the dash panel - this may take you a bit of time if you've never done it before, but it's really not that bad (see my video linked below.) Once you remove the body work, there will be a connector on the back of the switch to remove, and a nut holding the switch in place. Remove those, put your new switch into the dash, replace the nut and connector, then reinstall your bodywork and you should be as good as new. Removing the upper bodywork: czcams.com/video/qsRA-84wsU0/video.html Let us know how it works out!

    Great.l got sound on most of the video but around the middle of the video l lost your volume.Hope to see new video in fall. Can you resolve a problem with my 600 efi. sport expedition.The ski doo tips over at slow speeds. On a hard packed trail if you run up the hard packed edges it will tip. If I am on a back trail and get to close to the deep snow either side of trail the ski doo will tip over.

      My Expedition was shipped with all suspension adjustments set to the 'softest' settings (the least pre-load.) Try tightening up your front spring pre-load. You'll need to use the suspension adjustment wrench on the clutch cover. Adjust it just 1 or 2 clicks at a time, then test ride it. I found the snowmobile much less prone to tipping with the front springs adjusted tighter. I settled on a setting of 4 out of 5 on the left and right front springs (that's 1 click from the highest pre-load on the front.) Leave the rear springs as soft as possible (only increase the rear spring preload if you're bottoming out.) For me, this dramatically improved handling, stability and reduced darting.

      Sorry for that: I had royalty-free music in the video, but YT flagged it. My options were either a) give all revenues to whomever claimed ownership of the song or b) mute the disputed section of the vid. I'll replace this vid with an updated 3-yr pre-season service next fall.

    Did they add the Air Radiator kit on the wider body

    • @mop1471
      @mop1471 Před rokem

      The rad/fan kit doesn't come standard on the Sport 600 EFI, but can be added by the dealer (or yourself) on the wide body. The fan/rad kit doesn't fit my narrow body. However, I would argue that adding ice scratchers is a more cost effective option. The fan/rad comes standard on Sport 600 ACE and 900 ACE. I only ever have an overheat condition when the weather is warm, trail is hard with no powder, I didn't use my ice scratchers and I'm doing something weird like driving very slowly and stopping all the time to move my cameras.

    • @mop1471
      @mop1471 Před rokem

      Yes, the hood (or bodywork, as Ski-Doo calls it) are different. The 2021 was the only year they put 'narrow' bodywork on the Expedition, switching to 'wide' bodywork in 2022. The machines are mechanically identical however.

    I am 19 years old 6’2” I got a 2023 Expedition 600EFI I have 600km on it they make them a lot wider now this year my buddy has a 2021 same exact model mine compared to his is noticeable wider quite a big machine for myself at a young age and for a first machine but I love it for the ice fishing, hunting and riding I do also has a lot of power. I’d say it’s as wide as a Ace now.

    • @mop1471
      @mop1471 Před rokem

      While I like that my 2021 has narrow bodywork, like a Backcountry or Summit, the downside is that I can’t install the optional fan and radiator kit. If you wanted, you could get the fan/rad kit for additional cooling.

    As a side note, my 2023 Tundra with the 600EFI now comes stock with a cooling fan behind the front radiator. I've only heard it turn on once, but then again lots of my riding is off trail. Not sure if the fan is also present on the newest EXPs as well.

    • @mop1471
      @mop1471 Před rokem

      The 2021 Expedition 600 EFI doesn't have the front fan/rad and it cannot be installed. In 2021, the Expy 600 EFI got 'narrow' bodywork, like a Backcountry or Summit, which isn't compatible with the front fan kit. In contrast, a 2021 Expy Sport 600 ACE (or 900 ACE) would use the wide bodywork and [I think] the fan and rad were included with the 4-strokes. Additionally, it's my understanding that for the 2022 model year and beyond, the Expy 600 EFI got wide body work and could have the fan and rad installed as a dealer option.

    On hotter days or on hard packed snow I like to set my rear springs all the way down to 1 so the heat exchanger in the tunnel is closer to the track. Also use ice scratchers.

    Hi visiting windy lake park next week, wondering if it is worth bringing sled, green and yellow trails according to maps

    • @mop1471
      @mop1471 Před rokem

      I wish I had better news, but trails are looking pretty rough around here and the forecast looks even worse. I'd keep an eye on the trail statuses. If they become yellow and red, don't bother. If they remain green & yellow, then bring your sled and let me know where you're at so we can go for a ride! TBH, I haven't been on the trails for weeks. I took my wife away for our second Ski-Doo Vacation. About half way to our French river rental cottage, an oncoming rider rolled his sled and collided with us. Luckily, everyone walked away. We were all very sore, but could walk. Other guy's sled was dead and needed to be towed, mine was damaged, but still worked. My wife and I completed our trip, but the following day, her wounds had swollen and she couldn't walk. I called in some help and got towed home. Tried trail riding one more time after that, but there were too many wrong-side riders, so I've only been doing off-trail riding, or boondocking, since then.
