The National Association of Women’s Organizations in Uganda (NAWOU) is a registered
umbrella organization of women based organisations in Uganda promoting the rights of
women and girls through evidence based advocacy & networking; research & documentation;
capacity building and partnerships to contribute to women’s political, socio-cultural and
economic development. NAWOU boasts of being the most grounded women’s organization
given its countrywide membership scope.
NAWOU’s work mainly focuses on strengthening women’s economic independence, peace
and security, enhancing women’s participation in leadership and decision making as well as
building women and girl’s agency to defend their rights.

Girls don't flee from female genital mutilation but simply from genital mutilation. In Ireland cutters have been responsible for infants dying after the procedure but have got off scott free, why? because the infants were only boys. The term FGM was coined by feminists to further their political agenda. It is a discriminative term deliberately chosen to discriminate against boys. That Ireland helps girls only, even in Africa, while condoning this act on boys at home in Ireland and to the extent of allowing cutters off scott free where the ritual ends in death, is profoundly disturbing.
