I ended up getting it 100% clean by putting it in a plastic tub just slightly larger than it with 3L (3x1L bottles) of simple green (heated it up on stove top)and hot (but not boiling) water and left it overnight. Every hour of So I would plunge it up and down quickly. High pressure hosed it then did another 3L of simple green for a few hours and perfect. It wasn't too clogged up but did have a fair bit of sludge to begin with lining the insides. Hope this helps.

Awesome video. Was looking for pics of these components of the ecodiesel torn apart. Video even better. Wish it was for the Jeep (which has different fuel tank style than the Ram) but was still helpful.

On my jeep I just used a brake fluid hose and pump. I ran the line from above the engine almost straight down into the fill hole. I ran the clear hose into a water bottle that I cut the bottom off and poured the fluid into the bottle and raised the bottle up and the fluid flowed right down into the fill hole. That is a lot easier than pumping it through the wheel well or from underneath.

Having trouble finding the diagnostic information for low fuel pressure while cranking. Target pressure is 4000 and pump is only making 1500. Duty cycle on fuel QUANTITY valve is only around 35%. Shouldn't it be higher during cranking to get pressure up quickly?

It may be due to higher cetane value perhaps. That you experience that the Turbo Delay is greatly reduced or disappears completely. But it can also be due to the fact that the agent has actually cleaned the one that can have an effect

Did you gas up 3000 RPM for 15 minutes with 250 ml in 50 liters of Diesel. when you intended to clean the particle filter

I put Maxlife in all my cars include Lexus and Acura and never had any problem, also I don't change the filter.

With your bulletproof eco did they fix your ccv oily issue? I'm only at 9k and the oils bad enough it coats my map sensor and pops a cel

How do you pressure test them oil going in to the coolant I flush to the point it coming clear coolant and small amount of oil but it start warm later it mix bad again

I learned something this week that you might like to try to clean caked-up coke from intakes etc… my wife’s been doing a literal ton of baking in the kitchen oven for the last few weeks to support our church. In the course of baking dozens and dozens of cakes, pies, and various other things, the oven was absolutely caked up with very stubborn black gunk on the inside. It was very stubborn carbon which I was determined to clean. We have a clothes steamer that hadn’t been used since I retired a few years ago (I used it to steam shirts, suits and such), and it occurred to me that steam might just cut straight through the heavy layers of crusty coked-up gunk inside the entire oven. This steamer really puts out a lot of steam and really makes cleaning up the oven a breeze. In fact the oven looked new on the inside again in just about an hour of steaming, scrubbing, and brushing. One caveat though - be careful. The steam will quickly remove skin too if you get your fingers in the way. Give it a try - it might just make cleanup a lot easier next time!

Just found your channel today (Sep 2023) and have been viewing several of your vids because I’m interested in a diesel truck and have been trying to educate myself on the ecodiesel, so I thank you for making these vids and sharing them. Rather than load you up with a mess of questions, I’d like to ask just one which I think might cut right to the heart of the matter… looking back now after 7 years or so with the ecodiesel and overcoming all the challenges faced during that time, and even investing in a new crate engine and having it bullet proofed, would you do it the same way again or just opt for the 2500 with the Cummins? Thanks much for your help!

Appreciate the tip on the Fluid Tool, but I was hoping on some information on how to drain the other half of the fluid in your system. The torque converter and transmission cooler in the radiator holds the other half of the 9.5 quart total. I noticed you didn't change the filter, which is part of the pan, and your new gallon of fluid you just put in, is now going to mix with the other dirty gallon in the system. Maybe you could work on doing a complete fluid and filter change.

I'm working on my first ZF8 trans. I usually use oem everything. Went to the Dodge dealer yesterday. The Mopar 8&9 speed atf was $35 per qt. It cost me $76 for 2 qts after tax. All I was doing was making sure the trans was full of fluid since the rotary dial electronic shifter is stuck in park. I'm guessing the valvebody or something internal got damaged while flat towing it behind an rv. The owner states she pulled the park release cable on the left side, left the trans and transfer in neutral and pulled it over 1000 miles. When she got to her destination, she couldn't drive the truck because it was stuck in neutral. I replaced the rotary shifter control at a cost of $850, which the dealer diag suggested. Now at least it'll start, just stuck in park. I'm able to fool the shifter as it's starts before it gets synced, and all that happens is it tried to move forward in reverse, neutral, and drive, but just for a moment before it's just starts making noise. Once you place it back in park, it's stuck again. In my experience, using different fluid sometimes isn't a problem with the trans itself, but could lead to other issues like coolers or fittings leaking. Temp not being at optimal under loads could also be an issue. I have no clue on the ZF but if someone were to pull the max towing capacity on the truck/trans, and the wrong fluid is used, it may cause an issue that normal or light loads won't cause. I do know many other videos I've watched in the last few days trying to figure out what's wrong with it stated not to use the red fluid. Oreillys told me none of their oil is capatable according to their computer, which includes the LV fluid. So it's conflicting info which I'm not the expert to say it's wrong. I've decided to replace the trans with a salvage yard unit. The dealer wants $6k for a new trans and $5k for a reman. The valve body/trans module cost is $4k so no point in just replacing that when a whole new unit is 1k more. I found a salvage yard trans with 120k miles for $850. The truck has 260k on it. The owner says the ecodiesel is running fine and I've did most of the repairs on it for the last 100k miles. According to my research and everyone I've talked to, the only other thing it could be is the trans itself because of improper towing. The manual states damage will occur is the trans isn't placed in park while recreational pulling. The transfer is placed in neutral. The owner states she put the trans in neutral because she thought transfer case meant trans. There's limited info on the technical aspect of the ZF out there. I don't work on enough of them to be an expert on it so I'm not making a video covering what I'm currently doing. The pressure can looks like a motive bleeder bottle that has been modified, which many brands use the same bottle. It cost about $48 on Amazon or you can buy kits with fittings for about $100 or so. I normally use a pump oil filler with a curved nozzle. The same type all lube places use. They cost about $70 for a cheap one and about $200 for name brand. You can get by with a radiator filler nozzle/pump for $20.

So what caused the failure? I figured it is clogged, then overheated with the 12k oil change intervals thus causing it to fail. Your thoughts?

Have 22 Ecodiesel 44,200 miles Loved it until it broke down this week. Had it towed to the dealer diagnosed that High Pressure fuel pump went out, took fuel rail all injectors all fuel system OUT!!! So my 22 is not recalled because supposibly mine came from the plant were the perfect trucks came from.....lol right. So warranty kicks in correct, But now they want proof of Services that are done by a professional!! I do my services I use correct filters, oils and rather service my own that trust someone. So they are looking for a quick blame... If running thru this suggestion you can Google lawyer that is Sueing them and join the law suit. I Will NEVER BUY A RAM NO MORE..

I just ignore the check engine light what exactly will this damage I took out all of the vents with a flat head but left the husk of it still on I live in a non vehicle emissions area so I don't have to worry about that

It meets the spec so if you're out of warranty by all means use it. A well respected member on the Ramforum.com used this same exact fluid in his 8HP70 equipped Ram and had well over 500K miles on his trans and used nothing but Valvoline Maxlife changed every 100K miles. Maxlife is synthetic also, the Mopar stuff is not. You can also use Lifeguard 8 fluid as its the same color and also meets the spec.

Do you think using mopar’s egr cleaning fluid would work off the truck. I cleaned my egr system man the crap that came out was impressive. Great vid btw will try this stuff though

So, as far as I know EVERY diesel ever has a fuel return to the fuel tank of fuel the injectors don't inject into the combustion chamber. My 1980 VW had this, my 1977 Mercedes had this, my 1983 Mercedes had this, my 1991 Mazda Bongo had it, my 1986 Isuzu...it's how diesel injection systems work.

"According to Valvoline the fluid is compatible". What about Dodge or the manufacturer of the transmission? No, it's not compatible. In fact, what Dodge and the manufacturer use is a completely different fluid altogether.
