Federal Signal Equinox - Daily 6PM “Silent Test” - Brooklyn, WI
©️ BSP
Please use my videos with my permission.
After the Decot in Edgerton, we drove over to this Equinox in the small village of Brooklyn for its 6PM blast. Since the last several times this has been recorded, the trees surrounding the siren have overgrown and complete covered the Equinox from almost all sides, making this really hard to record. I had to go in a clearing by some abandoned railroad tracks to get a good shot, although it was more of an undershot. That never hurts anyone though.
Before the blast, I looked through some trees and noticed the Equinox had all brand new cabinets, and that the ATI radio this (and all other Dane County sirens) used to have was now gone, and now had a Federal two-way radio. Something in the back of my mind told me that due to this change, the Equinox would rather do something else, or not even do the 6PM blast at all. At 6PM, it abruptly started rotating, and with no sound. At first I thought that the fuse for the chopper was broke, but I then started to think it was doing just a silent test where it rotates about halfway around and then does a short growl test. That thought turned out to be true because once it stopped rotating, it winded up at about 50% of full power. ECS must’ve changed this due to village residents complaining about the siren reaching full pitch every day. Even though I got less than expected, the shot was still cool and atleast it still does something daily.
Also, even though this siren is technically in Green County, it is activated and tested by Dane County.
INFORMATION
Location: Edgerton City Pool
Test Time: Daily at 6, 1st Wednesday at 12
Testing Conditions: Weather permitting
Date Recorded: 07/03/24

Decot Red Arrow Model 50 - Daily 5PM Blast - Edgerton, WI
zhlédnutí 164Před 14 dny
©️ BSP Please use my videos with my permission. After Brookfield, I headed over to Edgerton’s Decot for their 5PM blast. After talking with someone fairly recently, it turns out it goes at 5PM again, instead of 6. I believe what happened is during daylight savings, the timer got jacked up and ended up going an hour late. The Decot went off about 45 seconds after 5PM, and was also pretty loud. I...

©️ BSP Please use my videos with my permission. RE-UPLOAD After Johnson Creek tested late, I could no longer make it to Madison in time, so I thought to go ahead and drive over to my next target, which was this OM-120 along Woelfel Road. Once 2PM hit, tones immediately started going out, individually activating each city in the county. I’ve always wanted to hear one of these, and it did not dis...

©️ BSP Please use my videos with my permission. This was sure an interesting test just to say first off. As I was up in the area on the first Wednesday of July, stopped at several different sirens in Wisconsin (this being the first of the day). Once 11:00 rolled around, no tones came through and the siren was silent. I waited a several minutes and still to no avail, but at about 11:07, a Johnso...

©️ BSP Please use my videos with my permission. On the way home from Chicagoland, I stopped in Tonica as I realized I would be passing nearby around 12. I settled on this low mounted bright red Sterling, because I knew it would make a great shot, and it’s been a while since I’ve heard a Sterling. Unfortunately, it didn’t go off but I got a great shot and a cool Fedelcode ambiance. Also, happy 4...

©️ BSP Please use my videos with my permission. On the first Tuesday of July, I ventured up to Chicagoland for a first Tuesday test. Since I had never heard a P-50 before, I thought now would be an ideal time to hear one myself. ©️ BSP Please use my videos with my permission. So a couple of days ago, a fellow siren enthusiast left a comment on one of my other Lawton siren videos about a Model 5T that was missing its housing, which showed that on the most recent Google Maps street view. So today, I decided I’d head up to Moore to meet up with some friends (Colin, Andrew, William, Gabriel, and Jakob) at this Thunderbolt next to Crest Foods at 12th and Eastern. As usual for Moore, tones came through just a few seconds after 12, and the siren activated. It caught all of us off guard when the rotator failed, as Moore’s system usually...

0:15 Siren Starts 3:17 Winddown
I will never forget what the old system sounded like.
Growl*
Yes, growls are the standard Federal Signal silent tests. That’s also the reason I put it in quotations.
I have a question. As a siren recorder, where can I buy one of those walkie talkies which sound before the siren test? And such a good video you can even hear the ambience!😀
You can buy them on Amazon or at a Walmart or Target. The one heard in the video was around $90. And thanks!
@@brodiessirenproductionsOk. Thank you 😁

Nice Modular Catch vid! That’s late how did you find the Modular 6012? And how did it actavate by it self?
U should report it to the county
Interesting
That dont sound very quiet
Hey, I grew up 25 minutes from there.
Nice! I actually drove right south of Stoughton while I was up there as well.

It’s tested by Waukesha County
Flawless sound❗👍🏿
Love that intro!!!
This thing must me super old and loud. Nice video!
It was loud enough to want to make me cover my ears. The SuperBanshee gave me really bad tinnitus so I had hearing protection on for most of the time so it didn’t get worse. And thanks!
@@brodiessirenproductions Yeah I hear Banshees are very loud compared to other sirens.
Nice to see this thing still working, I’m planning to head down there one day since my grandparents live near there and it’s only about a 30 minute drive.
Everday? I wonder why
This goes off twice every day. Noon and 5PM. The 5PM blast is to let people at the pool know that it’s closing. The noon blast, is just like every other noon blast.
@@brodiessirenproductions dang I hope its serviced
Bro Nice video! I went to a 2001 at Chicago Illinois and it failed. I almost had a breakdown.
Considering that one single person works on all of Chicago’s sirens, I’d bet there’s still some that have some minor issues. And thanks!
@@brodiessirenproductions Your welcome!
nobody. Babies at 3AM be like
That has a different tone to it than the normal rasp an 8 port has Must have different rotor vane configurations
Another reason why Johnson Creek FD is top tier
There never was a truer thing said
well I guess ,it did Not explode, Lol Now i Can Not Give You a Hard Time About them Lol
That was probably ridiculously loud. Even though you missed the windup, still nice video!
It was the loudest siren I’ve heard in person, tied with a P-50. Since I was basically half underneath it, it was like a P-50 facing me for 3 minutes straight.
@@brodiessirenproductions Makes perfect sense. Apparently ASC made this ASC T-135AC, which is just a copy of the P-50. I wanna know what ACA thought of that bullshit.
@GabrielCL2T22A The company ACA went bankrupt, so ASC took over a handful of their old designs and let their production period go longer. The T-135AC was discontinued in rather 2006 or 2007. Once the T-128 got super popular, people stopped buying the T-135AC’s and so they were discontinued.
@@brodiessirenproductions Ahh ok. I do know ASC made something very similar to a P-10 at some point
They should do hi-lo again And because it is a *fire station*
I believe it does alert for fire calls as well. One of the guys I talked to said that it was possible that they could but they didn’t know how to manually get the solenoids to work themselves.
@brodiessirenproductions well it did hi-lo before
@@grovecitysirens_GCSThe person who helps maintain this siren was the one who set it off in hi-lo for them.
@@brodiessirenproductionsnah fam we don't need hi-lo, pulse is our only main goal, nothing else
Low glizzy isnt glizzing 😢
Well if you want to hear a 5 HP version thats very healthy for being nearly 100 years old, you know where to find one
This siren has not been activating for the noon blast for a while, really sucks that you weren’t aware of that before 😢
The Model 2 must also not be going either. I didn’t hear it when the Fedelcode activated and I should’ve heard it from where I was.
i really hope they didnt cut it down to just the fedelcode…
That’s a possibility. But you can’t be too sure
Hot dog
Whoa, That is what you call a low mounted siren
The glizzy does not glizz
good stuff bro nice meeting up with you again
Is this just super low mounted or is it just me?????
It’s concerningly low mounted

Lower voltage (I think)
208 volts.
Epic video man! This thing sounds very powerful like it should. Kinda sucks you didn’t do Elk Grove tho but maybe some other time
Looking back at this.. how did you get permission to record this? I recognize this spot as being within the base..
We had a temporary base pass, and we were on base around 4:30 so I decided to stop and record it. The people on base didn’t seem to care that I was recording, so I didn’t think much of it.
@brodiessirenproductions I speak from working on these sorta installations(a development since my original comment was made) that access doesn't mean permission to record. You got lucky lol. I tried photographing Altus AFB's thunderbolt during *the air ahow* and they got pissed. Where I work, permission to legally take photos/videos has to come from VERY high up. Doesn't stop people from doing it anyways..
that's something you don't see everyday.
Great to finally see a Lawton 2T22 up close! I spoke with EMA today who said the 5T you mentioned in the description was down the last few weeks for repairs and was put back up yesterday with a bright yellow refurbished housing!
Glad to hear that! Eventually I’ll go by and check it out.
That’s amazing, I love how the 2T22 and T-128 make it sound like there is an Allertor or some sort of 9/12 port siren in the system! 🔊😁
LOL! I thought the Siren was n the Backyard!
Nice video!
