    Testing Cycles: Attack (3 cycles)
So yesterday, my nannie had found a Facebook post from the Town of Tipton saying that they would be testing the sirens the next day at 1PM. So, she suggested we go since it’s just the town over from Frederick. Tipton does not test regularly and they’re very inconsistent, so I decided to take advantage of the opportunity. Before 1PM, I stopped by the decently new Model 2 on the west side of town to drop my audio recorder off to see if it worked or not, but for some reason it wouldn’t turn on so I figured it had died. I’m sure it works anyways because it couldn’t have of been installed over 15 years ago.
Once 1PM rolled around, nothing. I waited for about 5 minutes and then decided to go back to my car and call the Town of Tipton. They said that they were still testing and that the sirens would be activated in roughly five minutes. And sure enough, about four to five minutes later at 1:09, this insect infested Sentry roared to life. I wasn’t expecting them to only test for under a minute, but as long as they work, they work. When i had walked up to the Sentry, there was a strange humming/buzzing sound emitting from the battery backup cabinet. So with all said and done, I hope you enjoy the video.
The town of Tipton has two 16V1T-B’s, one presumably active Model 2, an inactive FS&S Model 2, a dead Thunderbolt 1000 (?), and a 3V8-H at the Tipton Children’s Home.
Outdoor warning sirens in Tipton are tested as needed. Usually every few months during storm season.
