Oregon Chip Terminal, North Bend, Oregon
This export terminal was established around the early 80's as the Pacific Chip Terminal along the shoreline between North Bend and Coos Bay. It's primary function is to receive wood chips from local wood products processors and export them to countries like China, Japan, Korea. Most of the chips are Douglas Fir, but I would expect there to be some alder and maple as well as limited amounts of Spruce. The vast majority of the chips are made specifically for the export trade, but there will also be quantities of chips and sawdust from mill operations.
There certainly isn't much information available on the company itself, having no website at all. I suspect that it is owned in a portfolio of companies by international operators. I tried to research the ownership through the State corporate division and the officers have Portland, Oregon mailing addresses, and has an agent named that is a "fill in" agent. That's what I call a company that handles the registrations for other companies. The "fill in" agent is Corporation Service Company, with a Salem, Oregon address. The Portland mailing address for the Oregon Chip Terminal is shared with 50 other companies, so that leads me to suspect the address in not an office for the company, but a mailroom for the agent to handle all the boring paperwork for a large number of companies. Eiji Ishiguro is the registered President and Hiroshi Joke is listed as Secretary. The names change pretty often in the history of the business registration.
They generate about $25,000 in annual tax revenue to Coos County. I have no idea what payroll they sustain, but would expect them to have around 4-6 employees, if that many. Longshoreman and Stevedores, tug operators, and fuel companies, along with supply companies such as Day Ship Supply to replenish the ordinary food and other such needs for the crew are all benefiting. Local lodging also would put up the ships crews while in port.
They are currently operating at reduced capacity due to some repairs taking place on their property.

The F/V TRALEE heading up Coos Bay
zhlédnutí 490Před 9 lety
A local fishing boat, probably had been trolling for salmon offshore and was heading upriver to Coos Bay city docks or thereabouts. I don't know much about this one, but some of the details are that she was built in 1941 by Astoria Marine Construction Co., she 40 gross tons and 55' in length. I think she's got a fine look to her. All I can think of for the name is that it comes from the Capital...
Coos Bay Rail Line bridge closing
zhlédnutí 2,6KPřed 9 lety
Filmed September 7th, 2014 A bit of a close up as I pass underneath the span as it is moving to a closed position. It normally stays open to allow ships to pass along either side of the center support. It was closing on this day for testing or maintenance. It moves fairly quickly, and in the video there are some gears moving along underneath that are shown. Of course it is hard to tell how quic...
Coos Bay Rail Line Bridge swinging open

Filmed September 1st, 2014. This is a pretty shaky video taken from a boat, but I have rarely seen the bridge moving so took the opportunity when it presented itself. I'm not sure why it stopped before being fully opened, but it seems like they were testing it quite a bit this fall. One thing this shows is the swing speed, which might be of interest to train and infrastructure enthusiasts. The ...
Cape Arago Trail Walk

Filmed July 27, 2013. This trail starts at Sunset Beach and heads South to Shore Acres and Cape Arago. There are a ton of scenic points with a variety of ocean views. The trail alternates between ocean views and walking among the trees. Parts of the trail do go along or near the edge of the shoreline, which here is mostly rocky bluffs with steep drops to rocks or water. There aren't many places...
The Manfred Nystrom pulling a barge full of wood chips

Filmed January 2014 - While on Coos Bay doing a little crabbing I got to watch the Manfred Nystrom pull a barge full of wood chips past me. The day was warm and very little wind and just unbelievable for this time of year. The crabbing should have been fantastic but I completely struck out for probably the first time ever. I redeemed myself a few days later! The Manfred Nystrom is a Dunlap Towi...

A walk through of me disassembling the center dash cluster to repair a light that works intermittently. The whole thing took about 55 minutes with filming, mistakes and putting it all back together. I think knowing how it is done it would take about 20 minutes or less. The main issue is replacement of the small lights and I do not know where to get replacements although it has been suggested th...

Description of changing out the steering fluid reservoir on a 2004 Town & Country. I dove in and just did it and then realized that folks might like to see how it was done, so went back and made this. It probably took me an hour, figuring out things step by step. It was pretty messy with the ATF getting all over. Siphoning it out initially, and then after swapping the reservoir and refilling it...
Better crabbing in January 2014

After getting skunked in the bay, the next day I tried a new spot and it worked out quite nicely! These were some of the biggest Red Rocks I've seen in the bay. I don't usually keep them when they are smaller as they don't have a lot of meat except in the claws. We pulled up some starfish and had a good time on the water and put aside a nice amount of crabmeat that we devoured over the followin...

Some times the crabbing is really happening, and some times it is really hard work to get a good catch. But I've never been skunked! Not even a single legal crab on this day, it was pretty hopeless. But for the middle of January, it was a super day with almost no wind, warm sunshine, and you just can't beat that.

I think we're seeing the of the packets first trade the same as redwoods. Study Scotia mills and 100 plus years of forestry management. Cheap materials and cheap labor equal the rape of our resources. These trees are harvested 40 years early. The redwoods and Scotia destroyed by arbitrage brokers like Milken. Joe fell in trouble but the practice continues. If you shop at home depot FU. They have redwood thatcomes from 12" boles, I've seen it in Healdsburg yard, you can too. DF is now rated below southern yellow pine. This is not how are resources are to be treated. Fuck library's and your enviro crap, you are the cause, you are the cause, you are the cause you mindless, thoughtless posfield snake of your own destruction

Would hate to work on such a ship considering my experience on land at an Alberta logging mill. Log piles shift unpredictably when you least expect it from changes in humidity and you can be crushed tons of avalanching logs. Anyone who works in the holds of these ships as log riggers is crazy or does not know how deadly their job really is.

Another quick note did you bleed the system it's just like power brakes you have to get all the air bubbles out shorter lifespan on your power steering pump if you don't you may have introduced air bubbles in the system when you took it apart you may want to drain out some of that oil out of your Reservoir looks to be a little too full there are three lines on your reservoir one is add line one is the minimum line and one is the maximum line put the fluid between the minimum and the maximum line and you will be good

The #1-05019519AA (mopar) will fit, but they are tight going into circuit board holes. One solution is to ream the circuit board holes a little bigger using a file or dremel with a stone. Do it slowly so you don't ruin your board
