The solar panel is simply paralelled with the AA batteries, only a single series diode to prevent the batteries backfeeding into the solar panel, but the solar panel can charge the batteries. So it is probably intended for NiCd AA cells, not for regular primary AA cells (there's a good chance that's the reason why it has battery leakage, charging primary batteries can result in that).

That's a cool radio. I love seeing all the interesting tech and innovations that they were coming out with during that time.

I like to collect transistor radios, and listen to Long and Mediumwave. I enjoyed this video very much. It was also helpful that you speak English, as it's the only language I can speak fluently.

I remeber old Soviet radios from the 70's. Crude but built to last. You could always tell by the PCB's inside.

I really like the graphic design on this radio! Looks to be inspired by Sony stuff from the time.

I have this radio in standard black case and 70s look. Its interesting to see that 1988 variant still used germanium transistors and even old 2 transformers power amplifier. So they modernized just the case and 2 AF transistors were changed to silicon ones. Thats why perestroika never worked :-)

I had the blue 341-F model in 1989. I modified the back and installed a micro lightbulb into the antenna socket, so that it could double as a flashlight, which was very handy to have in a village with no street lights. Even though the family did have a television, I loved the radio more, because I could carry it with me.

Nice to see an old Russian Radio still working, I had a Russian battery radio in UK as a young boy in the early sixties AM/LW and seven SW bands built like a T34 Tank it eventually stopped working and was discarded, nice video.
