1950's boiler suit - Making stylish and practical overalls
I have a lot of work to do in my new house, but I'm so excited and happy and can't wait to move in! These boiler suits will be perfect for all the restorations, painting, building furniture and house work I need to do... And I may make one more for the summer!

If I may ask, what's your haircut type?
It's a layered short haircut and there's a bit of a "mullet" at the back, so all the hair can be put in rollers. I showed my hair stylist how I want to style my hair and explained I'll be using rollers, so he gave me the right haircut!

Beautiful! I’m in the same position, my house is nearly finished being built but there’s so much I need to do due to budgeting, very nervous about laying my own flooring throughout but I’m sure I’ll figure it out. I’ve been actually thinking of making Charm patterns one in pink for the same purpose 😊
I'm sure you'll do a fantastic job! We can do anything we put our mind into. I know it's stressful and can be overwhelming, but it's also very exciting and fulfilling, especially when you complete a project! The charm patterns overalls, are beautiful, you should make one. It's essential hehe! 😘🥰
Mad Men was actually set in the 60's. The early 60's clothes were still a lot like the 50's clothes. I still remember my mother's dresses with full skirts and crinolines. I wore Shift style dresses to school in the later 60's. Those styles have come back too.

4:59 Not being a sexist pig at all but I am amazed by the number of women who like a spanking......any women out there agree with me?
I lived in the fifties and it was pretty good. Her rendition of the role of women is incorrect. First of all what is wrong with a woman staying home and rising children? It is the rule of nature. Women could go to college and have careers. My mother went to college and was a teacher for a while, but she preferred to stay home with her four children. My father never beat her and always asked her advice on decisions.
There's nothing wrong with a woman staying at home, as long as it is her choice (I mention that in the video). It's great that your mom had a happy life, that she chose for herself, but not all women had that opportunity. Also, what about Black people and gay people? They were treated so terribly and that is all in historical facts...

We didn’t lock our doors, you could leave your keys in the car, streets were safe, and it only took one breadwinner to raise a family. Women were not bossed around by their husbands. That’s a generalization. There were lots of good points about the 1950s.
That's very true, there were many good things about the 1950's and I think you've highlighted some of the best! Thank you for your feedback and I will certainly keep everything you said in mind if I tackle this subject again in the future!
If gay people are so liberated, why do they have a track record for murdering each other? A homosexual cop in Sydney, recently murdered two homosexual men. A woman in Adelaide murdered her wife. Many serial killers are homosexual. Jeffrey Dahmer anyone? This celebration of homosexual culture has not improved homosexual lives. It's narcissism at its worst.
I was born in 1958, so i did live in the 50s. I remember the 2 generations before me very well. There was nothing wrong with them. Fine upstanding and wise people. In fact they were part of the greatest generation. Men and women greatly respected each other. Whatever the advertising world did had nothing to do with what people really were.
everybody feels that way about the time period they grew up in. there’s very wonderful people from every generation, in fact most people are probably generally good folks. but no doubt social climate is always changing and morphing, and no doubt in the general popular culture of the time made many things more difficult for independent women. a general societal culture at such a broad scale is more dictated by governments and companies with power to influence than it is by individual people
I'm glad you had a happy childhood and I'm sure there were many wonderful people in past generations. But that doesn't change the fact that the society in the 50's was problematic for the reasons I mentioned in the video. And all this is based on historical facts not on my personal opinion.
