Do You Still Speak to God?
It’s a deliberately provocative question. I recently worked on a construction project in Redfield, rebuilding a church called the House of Faith. It was explained to me that the church was founded by a guy who literally had a dream one night that he had to start a church. He didn't have any idea how to do this, or any money. All he had was unwavering faith that whatever he needed would turn up. One way or another it did, and the church grew and developed into a community with Kids clubs and a football team. Faith is all powerful.
I would like to dedicate the song to my friend Gareth who I know spoke to God regularly. He fought courageously, but lost his battle with cancer earlier this year, and right now is probably playing guitar / mandolin / ukulele / harmonica in the house band. He was naturally gifted and could play any instrument with strings, and a couple without. He also played a bit of banjo. We did discuss that if everything in the world was created by God, what was he thinking when he created the banjo?
