Over the bank holiday weekend, some Great Western services (one an hour) were diverted at Reading onto the Southern route to Waterloo. A very rare event. The HST Eurostar race (11:35) at Vauxhall was a very lucky shot! The final shot is at Wokingham

    This was the same time and era when Class 421 GIGs were also painted in Network SouthEast livery alongside the Class 411s on the South Eastern division only and are operated by Connex South Eastern until November 2003

    Beautiful video of a bygone era. It was this livery and the 373 that first got me started with trains as a hobby when I first visited England back in Christmas 2008. I never knew that Fawkham to Southfleet was OHLE, I always thought it was 750V DC. Sadly I never got a chance to see or ride the trains there in person.

    First time on the s stock yesterday from Uxbridge n I was greatly disappointed....it's not the same...the feeling of speed the lack on buoyancy the raw sound of the twisting carriages the huming sound of the train at the station...the independent closing doors at different times...I miss the old train

    A new track was specially constructed for the new Kings Cross Eurostar service. In 2007, The Eurostar wasn’t connected to mainline services in Kent anymore, which was causing delays for commuters into London.

      Oh no no, these announcements are Phil Sayer. Several interesting interviews in here. He died in 2016. I think they were the best station announcements we ever had.

    Did they remove the overhead wires before the refurbishment? I saw videos of the old station where the Midland Mainline trains were under the wires.

      @@traindriver35 I genuinely would be surprised to see another, and I don't think it'd match up to be fair. Even the timing of the trains aside, the camera work with the timing of the zoom/panning was all bang on the mark too, gotta give the appreciation there where it's due too.

      Yes I would prefer apple green. When I told a spectator that only a few scraps of metal are original, even the nameplates are new, they were horrified😂 It's granddad's hammer, two new heads and four handles😂

      They aren’t windshields, they are smoke deflectors and she’s needs them. According the her owner, the NRM, its not authentic to have her in LNER apple green whilst she’s in her A3 rebuild. Stupid excuse given that a West Country class was painted purple last year and the fact that 20 years ago she was in LNER apple green whilst in her A3 build

      I think Waterloo was the only station that had space to build a new terminal. Victoria would have been impossible.
