  • Just a few shots of the second Sunday of steam trains on the London Underground. An event to celebrate the 150th anniversary of it's opening on the 10th January 1863..Most of the trips ran between Moorgate and Edgware Road. You can read full details of the train in my film from last week but most of the carriages are the magnificent 1898-1900 vintage Metropolitan Railway coaches know as the "Chesham Set" on loan from the Bluebell Railway in Sussex...From this Easter you will be able to visit that railway by train from London and possibly ride in these coaches, when the Bluebell's extension to join the National Rail network at East Grinstead finally opens. Restored "Jubilee" coach 353 will also be visiting in the future..
In the last shot, my favorite, as King's Cross was filled with steam and smoke, unaware tourists and weary Sunday night travelers were left goggle eyed by the spectacle..
UPDATE:..The Bluebell Railway extension to East Grinstead WILL OPEN ON SATURDAY 23RD MARCH 2013.....CONFIRMED

Excellent. That must have been great to have all the steam lingering around after the train had gone. Like that woman in the white coat dancing up and down. All the best.

Just a few shots???? They are some of the best that I've seen....very atmospheric!! The last one from 3:03 was a complete winner, gotta love that girl jumping up and down with excitment... she got her money's worth with enough steam to smoke out the whole station....…☁☁☁⁘⁙☁☁⁙..☁……Hᴜɢʜ….Lɪᴋᴇᴅ…..ツ
