New American Military Aid for Ukraine - What's in the package and what impact will it have?
In early 2022, the US quickly emerged as one of Ukraine's most important military suppliers, supporting Kyiv with everything from artillery to armour & millions of rounds of artillery ammunition.
In late 2023, that vital flow of supplies began to stall as debate in Congress continued. And as supplies ran short, Russian forces took advantage and ground the front forward in several places.
Now, the US has passed a new package and the flow of supplies is resuming. In this video, we look at that package, examine its contents and ask what impact it might have as Ukraine reportedly faces some of its hardest defensive battles since 2022.

U.S. citizen here, not sure why you refer to billions in weapons and cash as a percentage of our GDP, from my standpoint, it's billions in taxes paid, when there are plenty of issues with invaders at our borders to take care of. Are there over ten million Russians in Ukraine? Cause Biden let in over ten million invaders into our country.

I never understood the cost comparison between target and interceptor. The real question is how much would the damage caused cost. In other words, if a (say) 100$ rocket is about to hit a parked F35? It makes perfect economic sense to shoot it down at almost any cost.

Perun seems to forget or ignore that the _publicly stated goal of the U.S. insupporting a war in Ukraine_ *is,* _" . . . to destroy as much Russian equipment as possible," per Anthony Blinken, Secretary of State. That *demands* the war go on as long as possible, and does not count the cost in lives, treasure, or anything else! Since the primary present result of this war is to improve and develop drone warfare techniques and equipment, testing on the battlefield against the military equipment of every nation, I suspect that is the obvious purpose of this war. Read in to that what you may.

Let me correct some of your comment at 7:15 mark, China is food independent, they have the largest stockpile of food and thank to its use of agricultural science it is also the largest food producer in the world, the reason China is also a large food importer is because Chinse with improved economy want better food not just food. China is the sixth largest nation in natural resources, it does not have all the resource it needs but it is rich in rare earth, and also has untapped resources like Shale gas and oil. China's economy is not really equivalent or similar to Japan, China has vastly more natural resources than Japan, large internal market, China's debt is nothing at a level like Japan which stands at 420% of GDP or the US with government debt now 120% of GDP and private debt consistently at 210+% of GDP

At 4:40, I would like to add one more detail. For international viewers, particularly from parliamentary systems, this is going to sound weird, but one of the things about Congress, specifically the House of Representatives, is that each two year Congress can have its own separate rules (usually within the broad strokes of the ones past but you get the idea). These rules are dictated by the rules committee, which is arguably one of the most prestigious and powerful in the HoR. After the 2022 midterms, the Republicans had the slimmest of majorities in the house, and McCarthy wasn't elected speaker for multiple days until he convinced the hardliners to vote for him, largely through a number of concessions. One of these concessions was an alteration to the procedure to hold a vote to oust the speaker, whereby he agreed to drastically reduce the number of representatives required to initiate what is essentially a no-confidence vote. Fast forward a few months and after publicly subjecting Matt Gaetz to investigation over his sus activities and passing the bare minimum of a bi-partisan effort to fund the government, and Mr Gaetz initiated the vote that threw him out. Fast forward a bit more and Johnson is now facing a similar effort after passing the omnibus arms & intelligence-powers bill from MTG. Basically, under normal circumstances, without those rules alterations, this never would have happened; however, given the extremely tenuous nature of the Republican majority in the House, this whole rodeo came to be, and now Johnson might lose his job for doing the bare minimum after dragging his heels for so long. Lord knows who would replace him at this point, but the people giving the boot to whomever happens to hold the speaker's gavel at whatever given moment don't seem to care.

not too worried about the aid being late to Ukraine. If the allies think it's time to start rethinking their military spending, then I have to ask them, what have you been waiting for?

It's a real shame nobody thought to have an alliance wide standard for munitions, that way everyone wouldn't be reliant on one supplier.

European rearmament should be PERMANENT. Reliance on the distant, politically fractious, unreliable USA is a mistake. The world is a bad place. Always was, always will be, and harmlessness is the reverse of a deterrent, especially to the permanent historic ontological enemy to the east. Previous policy mistakes towards that enemy does not make it less an enemy. Failure to define it as an enemy does not make it less an enemy. Ossi and other leftist subversives in the West do not make it less an enemy but rather are products of well over a century of systematic social subversion. Any idea those subversives hold be it honest or otherwise does not lessen their intense desire to destroy secular democracy. The US is not a reliable ally but a large fickle emotional infant. (I'm a Yank and spent a lifetime studying my invariably rustic countrymen including a steadily declining national discourse worse every decade with zero prospect of improvement. Do not mistake current aid for other than the product of desperate bargaining by a fading group of internationalists.) The microscopic number of Americans with genuine interest in geopolitics are dwarfed by what H.L. Mencken rightly called the booboisie who are incompetent to operate a democratic republic, bitterly knowledge-averse, and intensely proud of those dubious qualities. Europe must unite for collective survival and stay that way as long as possible (no civilization is permanent as archaeology demonstrates). The former Warsaw Pact should acquire nuclear weapons. Ukraine made the suicidal mistake of trusting US guarantees and may yet lose because of it. Horror is no excuse for unwise policy. Poland being the most prosperous and understanding the permanent Russian threat should build out nuclear power and capability to produce warheads because the UK and France cannot be relied on to protect Poland. No outsider can be trusted at that level because outsiders can easily be subverted.

Well, it is the Slavic edition of the infamous war between Persia ans Iraq, which lasted from 1980 until 1988 and did cost some million lives. So Russia and Ukraine can already congratulate each other for waging that war, especially as both nations have very low birthrates and do now waste their last young men. Fighting for territory, which they will not be able to inhabit in the future...
