My Son Catches his First Fish - Creekin’ with Kyle and Beckett
Join Kyle and Beckett on his first fishing journey to catch a couple rough fish to prove to others that preparing even some of the most unsought after fish for table fare can be turned into something fun to chase and edible and the end of the day.
Recipe
-About 2 cups Rough fish like drum or Redhorse filleted and sent through a meat grinder
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp old bay season
- 1 tbsp mayo
- 1/2 C. Crushed saltines
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley
Mix all ingredients in a mixing bowl, pack into what ever shape you’d like to eat them weather it be sticks, patties or meat balls. Pick your favorite batter (my go to is Cajun shore lunch) coat with with an egg wash, cover in batter and drop it in some grease or bake it in the oven u tip crispy. Dipping sauce is optional but adds and extra kick if you like some more spice like chipotle or want to tame it down with tartar. Enjoy guys and thanks for watching!

It was opening day in southern Wisconsin so we decided to kayaks (Vibe Shearwater 125), (Jackson Liska), and canoes the local creek looking for bass. The weather (30mph wind gusts) ended up being a challenge for us but we did manage a big pre-spawn smallmouth bass, and later as the weather changed we got a few more fishing bass beds from shore. Where they camped below sea level is this video is ILLEGAL. Do not do this. You can disperse camp in a lot of Death Valley Natl Park, but not in any location in the valley bottom.
Good to point out that anyone planning to dispearsed camp in the national park should know, and be up to date on all current rules. I believe they are going to be instituting an online permit system going forward. That campsite was along trail canyon road, far enough towards mountians to be out of the designated no camping zone that makes up the valley floor. However it may not have actually been below sea level that was just an assumption I made while editing the video
@@skunkersoutdoors5120 I was referring to around 12:40. It does look like Trail Canyon Road. If you are more than one mile from the West Side Road, its all good. And you are right, that would be above sea level. Link to current rules. www.nps.gov/deva/planyourvisit/backcamp.htm
Racetrack Playa is absolutely worth the annoying road drive. Typically badly washboard, plus a lot of the road climbs an alluvial fan which are always bumpy.
Washboard roads result from a lot of use and inadequate maintenance in the form of blading the road to smooth it out. Vehicles create the washboarding.
Eureka Dunes is an awesome spot
Titus Canyon is a great drive
Death Valley is cold in January

I just left and was so overwhelmed by the beauty of that place. I cant wait to go back and this gave me a lot more info.
Nice camera work! The night shots were impressive. We were there at the end of January 2023 in the southern part-Trona Pinnacles, Mengel Pass, Badwater Basin and ending up in Lone Pine. It was crazy cold. Too bad Titus Canyon was closed due to the floods in August of 2022. Now with more flooding later in 2023, not sure when parts of the park will open.

I didnt know either until we started seeing them lol. They are only in the higher elevations outside of the main valley. It was a cool experience we werent expecting.
Interesting petroglyph think it says that 3 warriors entered chasing mt goats, and two died from heatstroke and the remaining hunter killed 3 more goats, it is a warning to stay out of the valley, would be my guess
I can imagine the horror on the faces of settlers who had to go thru that hell hole when told that you wanted to go there

There’s a study that actually say the smaller females carry more fertile eggs then the bigger one but they smaller ones 20 to 16 inches are better eaters

beautiful video and editing work! did your drone have a problem taking off from the park? I brought mine a few years back and it took off fine, but not sure if DJI will prevent you from taking off if you are within the geofence of a national park.

I fish the Madison Chain. I've heard tell of some VERY large Carp around here (possibly mis-IDd Buffalo, of course). My biggest so far is 24.5. I catch 8-12 over 20 LB each season. Nearly 3 tons in 2022. So much fun. Little buggers NEVER fail to give you a battle, even when they are small. Such a great way to make the most of your time on the water, long as you don't care that they're not the best to eat. I give them away as often as I can, or just turn them loose to hopefully get up over 30 LB someday.
Not a best ,but good eating ,if you know how to prepare and the best cooking method for them, it goes the same with most with any other food. One of the best ways to eat carp is to use pressure canner, muddy taste and bones are gone.
a question friend the fish finder, do you lower it to the bottom or do you keep it under the kayak?
I made a little HDPE plate so the fish finder transducer mounts right to the bottom of the electronics box and only hangs a few inches below the kayak.
