    a question friend the fish finder, do you lower it to the bottom or do you keep it under the kayak?

      I made a little HDPE plate so the fish finder transducer mounts right to the bottom of the electronics box and only hangs a few inches below the kayak.

    Do you have the link to the base plate that the Helix is mounted to? Not the AMPS plate.

      I picked mine up from fleet farm, but this looks to be the same one. The holes on top didn’t line up directly with the humminbird plate but I was able to turn it a bit and line two up with it. Been on that mount now for 2 years with no issues.

    Can you explain what you did when you ran your power cable from the SAE extension to the fish finder? Did you use the power cable that came with the unit or the PC 10 waterproof power cable?

      Originally bought the unit for my boat, and then purchased the ice bundle, and thought man, would it be nice to run one unit for every way I get on the water! So I bought an additional transducer and power cable. It is the oem cable you can buy on the hummingbird site, I believe the link is in the description. I ended up cutting it down and splicing in a 12v sae end on it to run to the cable I had inside the box. Ran it through the wilderness systems cord grip, worked out great!

      I ended up buying an additional cable for the yak at fleet farm, $20 👍

    Great video. Can you store anything on top of the battery? You have a little room left in there. Wasn't sure if that would be a good idea or not. Thanks!

      I have put a few small items on top of the battery or along side it. Some cables for charging phones or cameras, toss my extra batteries or another GoPro. Not a ton of room in there with the access cable

    Awesome video! how did you charge the battery? Did you just use the plug port for the FFinder?

      I do use the plug port in the back, converted the charge cable to the sae plug that way I don’t have to take anything out or even off the kayak if I don’t want to! Works pretty well!

    Any issues with side imaging? Can't find a cheap piece Starboard, so looking at some other options.

    • @skunkersoutdoors5120
      @skunkersoutdoors5120  Před 3 lety

      So far so good, I’ve taken it out a few times on a fairly shallow creek where it was pretty pointless in most places, but has a few 4-5’ deep pockets. Was able to see fish and structure(logs/rocks) on the side and down imaging. I got lucky and had a scrap piece laying around, if you look up 1/2” HDPE on Amazon there’s a bunch of options starting around $10 the issue is the shipping time and cost on some of those. Another option is see if you can find a nice heady duty cutting board, may not be 1/2” thick but I think you could probably get away with a 3/8” or so and still get a good image with SI.

    Do you have the pedal drive,if so is the monitor high enough over the pedals?

    • @skunkersoutdoors5120
      @skunkersoutdoors5120  Před 2 lety

      I do not have a pedal drive system yet, so I am not 100% sure if it’ll clear, but you can always push it back way back with the ram arm. That might give you enough space.
