well, time to memorize some new names...
This fish is the real "Green terror", and not the A.rivulatus. It was named after my friend Alf Stalsberg from Norway.
Like the info on natural habitat, my fav fish. Keep 5 types in schools
There are more poor white people in America than all black Americans put together, that includes millionaires and billionaires like LeBron James and Oprah.
Wonderful footage! Do you know, why they bring the pebbles? Is it for new biofilms the little ones😊 feed on?
Great one
If only the cory could hug you for all the love you give them 💌💌
Stunning and beautifull,
Wow!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Woaw !! What the nature is beautifull !! Thanks you very much for your picture. This is ideal for understanding the conditions in which the fish live!! ideal for trying to recreate this in an aquarium.👍👍
I love white paint-ish text on a white-ish background. Very cool.
Had never heard of aspidoras until last week when I enquired about some sterbai and the breeder asked if I wanted aspidora as well. 6 sterbai and 6 aspidora moving in to.orrow, can't wait
great fish. Those two should work well together also.
@@belowwater yeah the 12 of them together are already doing the signature cory pack wrestling when one of them fonds a snack
Good luck!
Got some wild caught brazilians lately and its insane how much more vibrant they are than tank raised. I know the colombians come in looking just as good.
Hoplisoma is the New cory 😮
Pike cichlids are some of the most handsome fishes out there.
Hoplisoma rikbaktsa or corydoras rikbaktsa? I think they may have moved them to lineage 1 with the revision.
I asked about it , in Hoplisoma.
@@belowwater ok, Ian Fuller’s list on his website has them under corydoras. I asked about it on his website and his answer referred me to his list. I am sure you can understand my confusion. I first noticed the discrepancy on planet corydoras. I guess it depends on which expert is being asked.
@@davidlundy8400 correct, there could be changes to the list at later times also
The Cichlasoma orinocense are gorgeous! And the Crenicichla are beautiful, too. Such an amazing system … just want to poke around in those plants all day long!
yes, in breeding colour wild cichlids always look amazing. That Crenicichla is a grey sausage most of the time...
So enlightening!
Geez, this footage is fantastic!
thank you!
So now my fish are Osteogaster aeneus! 😮😊 Thanks❤
"You may have already guessed it, but this is the group with the all the green ones" 😂I like the dry comedy moments! Thank you for this excellent breakdown of the new classifications, I suspect I'll be rewatching it several times because of the footage of some absolutely beautiful fish I've never seen before, but am now dying to learn everything about Aspidoras, while also trying to let the Latin sink into my brain meat and learn the new classifications. Love my Corydoras, but need to remember that none of mine are actually Corydoras anymore! But new classification did sound to be overdue, from the little I've seen on CorydorasWorld. The footage of wading into the water in that stunning natural habitat and seeing these incredible species in the wild is stunning too! I'm so jealous. What a dream job! New subscriber via a mutual friend. 🙂
We have videos of several species in nature, links in the description at the bottom.
@@belowwater I've been checking out a lot of them since our mutual friend shared this one! Thank you for being gracious enough to share - they're especially fascinating to those of us hobbyists who may never be lucky enough to see these species in the wild! I'm also doing my best to learn the Latin and new classifications. Incredibly beautiful footage, thank you!
Please make a video for Corydoras Eques habitat if u can sometime :)
it's lowland Amazon, not been there but i would suspect you don't see much under water except maybe in the rainy season.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎
Great video as always, thank you. Any chance you could edit the list of new species names to include a line of space between each genus? It is really hard to see which genus you are on if you are scanning down the list or searching for an individual species. Cheers!
I can't because of the CZcams character limit of 5000, that was the only way to fit it all in, we had to remove spaces, the full name and the authors. You can get a better list for viewing on planetcatfish or corydorasworld.
I call them the UpperCut-InYourFace fish !
Thank you
Very interesting
i'm more of a lumper than a splitter, but maybe i should read the scientific publication.
Awesome, love these more in depth videos
Thank you.
Great video Oliver! Not to make it worse, but we have found out in Latin, Hoplisoma is Neuter(Neither Masculine nor Feminine) and while Corydoras, Aspidoras, Scleromystax, and Gastromdermus are Masculine Latin words, Osteogaster and Brochis are feminine, so therefore there are some species names changing as well. Osteogaster aenea, and Hoplisoma paleatum are a couple mentioned in the video where we have a species name change as well as the genera. Great work as always- look forward to all your videos!
yes, I suppose the ending can change! I am sure that this is not the final word on this, I am hoping for another genus with a perfect name, something like _La cucaracha_ with roaches. Genus _La_ now has a bunch of species including _La paloma_ and _La cerveza_ !
Great video and breakdown on this subject, its going to take me a long time to remember the proper names of my fish now and i have a lot of different species of corydoras oops not anymore 😅
yes, takes some time but we all did it for _Cichlasoma_ too.
super informationen über wilde corydoras...😉👍👍👍
Danke!
Thanks. Great work!!
thank you
Excellent recordings, I love cichlids, beautiful, large fish, best regards
Thank you very much!
Great video, thank you.
Informative as always, sort of a quick guide
Glad you enjoyed it
6:40 SP. CW154 acts and swims like loaches 😂❤
yes, it's an Otocinclus-mimic I think
@@belowwater body shape and colouration of ottocinclus and behavior and swimming pattern of loach But this is a corydora 😂
So my pandas are not Cory’s they are hoplisomas?
_Hoplisoma panda_ , yes, refer to the list in the description of the video, it has all the new names.
Great information thanks
I get it, but it's still frustrating, but the frustration isn't limited to just Cory's. All of the unclassified fish are a muddy mess. The C, CW, and L numbers definitely create plenty of arguments. Not using a truly standard measurement can add to it as well, at least in the US, where game fishermen only look at the total length of a fish to meet harvesting length regulations. Not knowing how fish are measured and documented in a given published article or book can lead to disagreements at times very heated. Thank you for the time and effort put into what you are doing. I greatly appreciate it. 😊
Very interesting. Thank you
Thank you! Clear enough for this old gal to understand.
Great video, sad to see the corydoras name go away as it was such an easy latin name for a fish 😅
Very useful video 👍
Thank-you for the breakdown. It is the best and easiest to understand that I have come across. I always look forward to your videos.
Where do the gold lasers fall under?
it's one of the "green" ones, so _Osteogaster_ . We will see one day if that is just _O.aeneus_ in a nice colour form or a new species.
Great video. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
great video but I have to point out that the rikbaktsa shown belongs to the lineage 1 corydoras group. 👍🏻🙂
I asked about it because I was not certain, but it's _Hoplisoma_ , not _Corydoras_
Great video. 👍👍Hopefully it won't take decades for stores and sellers to stop calling all these cats " Corydoras". Looks like my old library of fish books needs some updating. ;)
yes, that will take a while, we still have Cichlasoma in the shops....
@@belowwater It's been years since I spoke about fish in Latin names. I don't know if my brain can handle all the changes. ;) LOL
