Tarantula Hawk Wasp Dragging Tarantula - Colombia

While doing some work on a farm about an hour west of Bogota, Colombia I spotted what I later learned was a tarantula hawk (or tarantula wasp). I believe this one specifically is Pepsis sumtuosa. It will keep the tarantula paralyzed in order to lay eggs in its abdomen. The larvae will subsequently feed on the tarantula. Apparently the tarantula hawk has one of the most painful insect bites know...

Changing the shape of a waveform such as a sine, triangle, sawtooth, or square wave could mean many things depending on the synthesizer you are using. Filter Self-Oscillation: What and Why?
zhlédnutí 2,6KPřed 3 lety
Filter self-oscillation occurs as a result of resonance (a type of feedback) taking the electrical "noise" inherent in a synthesizer and feeding it back right at the filter's frequency cutoff point, resulting in a pure sine wave of that frequency. It can be useful as an additional analog oscillator on your synth and gives you another way to go about making music. In particular it can be useful ...

I watched all your videos as I am very interested to buy the Summit in couple month. Before I can decide I have a question. With factory patches, can program any sounds? Like String, Brass, Violin, Flute, Nice pianos like the sounds on Korg M1 or Roland D-50? Or I will need to find samples and upload them to summit first?

Pretty overlooked area of synths imo! Alex Ball played a gorgeous whistling filter patch in one of his Juno videos and I was stumped at recreating it on my Neutron until I realised I could keytrack the filter and just turn the oscillators off - adding noise to a low pass filter really gives it a vintage whistling grain and switching through the high-pass/band-pass modes gives different character too :)

Hi James, my apologies if this comes through as a duplicate - I’m not sure if the first time I posted this went through. Would you be willing to provide some hints and tips to me to re-create Jack Casady‘s bass sound on Jefferson Airplanes White Rabbit? I’ve made attempts at it and I’m getting in the ballpark but I could use a little guidance - I’m starting with a sawtooth on OSC 1 range 8 and OSC 2 range 16 and I’m thinking I’m wanting to add some percussive effect as you show here as well as some LFO for a little movement kind of like a little rumble and some distortion - I think he’s overdriving his amp a bit and of course reverb. it sounds OK but I think it’s missing some of the analog “warmth” I’m going try adding that in next. My understanding is he did this on a fender jazz bass - e.g. not using any active electronics (yet) - and I can re-create the sound on my jazz bass, but in the summit is another matter. As a part of learning, I’m trying to re-create some of the classic 60s and 70s stock/folk/blues sounds. Any help is appreciated!
