  • I forgot to mention in the video that I used the Summit's default amp envelope settings. This is my first patch tutorial video. It's hard to zoom in on the Summit and still get the whole instrument into the frame but future videos in this series (after about the fourth one) have improved video.

    Please keep then coming if you can.
    I made my very first very usable sound today on my Summit.
    That was after watching your tutorials and reading your comments & replies.
    I can't wait to make a Trax with it 🙂

      That's really encouraging to hear! Would love to hear what you're making.

    I’m really glad I found your channel - these are some really great explanations and songs you’ve made. Most patch creation videos are for the Peak, so it’s awesome seeing you work on the Summit

      I learned a huge amount making those videos. Glad you like!

    Now that Noise is available as a mod source (released in 2.0 firmware) its a great option for adding "stormy" or "crackly" qualities to your sound. Try modulating various destinations with Noise as your source!

    Great patch. Thanks for walking through it. Nice to see someone doing some sound design in this instrument who isn't trying to sell you their patches.

      Thanks, and I hope you enjoy the others. I gained a lot from this just learning as I put them together so it's a win-win I guess!

    Yeah, this is great! Nicely controlled. The second oscillator does help to cut through the noise. And the spread is too much fun on the Summit!

    I like this a LOT. My studio is in storage atm pending a move, but when I get my summit up and running again, I’m going to build and tweak ALL of your patches. Thanks!

      So glad to hear that! I'm planning on posting more and hopefully improving the video (with some zooms on the menu screen) if I can figure it out in iMovie. Good luck with the move and get back on that Summit ASAP!

    How to change the purity of the Summit's sound into lo-fi vibes :-p Just kidding, I actually learned something and will make some tries later on. Your tutos are cool, just keep them coming !

      Haha true! Some of these synths are almost too good...we have to look for ways to make them sound "worse" (i.e. better). Thanks so much for watching!

    Great vid. Keep up the good work for all those noobs out there. ;-) It's simple. The Novation Summit is simply the best synth since the Virus TI. It's got kind of a 'dark' edge that only few synths out there have. Even latest analogs like P5 or OB6 don't even come near. (the Summit make me think of my old Oberheim M12 in special string like sounds)

    Did you try adding some DRIFT/DIVERGE to this patch? Will try this one tonight, cheers.

      Don't think I've tried but I should revisit this as it was an early patch. Thanks!

    Had it and sold it after a couple of months. Sounds good but it's not inspiring. I wanted to like it... thought it was a keeper, but there is something (I can't explain) about its sound that makes you lose interest in it. I replaced with a Wave 2 and so far I think I made the right decision.

    • @pjamesbridge
      @pjamesbridge  Před 2 lety

      If the Wave inspires I'm sure it was a good choice! Seems like a really cool instrument.

    Thinking of this vs pro 3 ( i already have a virus ti2) i know i know different get both lol but i cant. It has awesome modulation and distortions alongside its fm engine this 'summit dude'
    But can it get into deep dark sub bass pro3 area?

    • @pjamesbridge
      @pjamesbridge  Před 2 lety

      In my experience it can get deep and dark although I've had a harder time getting the bass notes to break through in patches where I'm also using the higher end. Might just be lack of experience on my part though.

    • @raven-jz6cv
      @raven-jz6cv Před 2 lety

      @@pjamesbridge yeah i get what you saying it sounds bit too thin without entering its board of fx and modulations. Thinner than virus a lot. Maybe ill be better off with a fat mono like pro3 or moog but still is a beautiful instrument and for the dawless it also sounds like its fm possible route are killer. And that reverb is studio high end grade or smth? It looks its a lot more fun than a mono for sure😂 u the best bro. Thanks for your reply.

    Hi can you please explain how to have all features of the efx in the summit and run use the efx on external synth?

    • @pjamesbridge
      @pjamesbridge  Před 8 měsíci

      You would run 1/4" cables from the other instruments' outputs into the Summit inputs. Then you would go into the "Voice" menu of the Summit and enable the external inputs and also select whether you want the external source to go through the Summit filter section and effects (or effects only).
