Now that's some racing. The crap we have these days sucks
Austin, not sure if your the pilot, but there is a FedEx pilot that flies over my home in Mesa,Az on approach to sky harbor that has a glide path so clean you can not hear the engines from the massive aircraft . Even the drag is undetectable. Someone is able to turn that jet into a glider. I believe it is a MD-11 F. Cool stuff
I truly Love the history of USAC Champ Dirt Car ("The Big Cars") 1960's, USAC 4 Crown series 1980's and The USAC Silver Crown Series 1990's to present. The list of drivers that competed in these 3 (pretty much the same) series is an absolute Who's Who, Hall of Fame list of the GREATEST DRIVERS in American Open Wheel Racing.
Is there any relationship between Boles Chevrolet and Doug Boles, President of IMS? RIP Rich Vogler...
Nothing like a proud Dad!!
My dad & uncle Bob watched Thunder all the time when I was growing up- I See why....this was a RACE
I grew up watching Thursday and Saturday night thunder. It made anything nascar or anything else put on look like amateur hour. Miss those days.

What a great clip. I have watched it over and over. Also the sound track introduced me to a great band. Many thanks Steve.
Andrew, thanks for your generous comments. Since you enjoy Evanescence, I recommend checking out lead singer Amy Lee's solo work, such as this acoustic cover of Led Zeppelins "Going to California." czcams.com/video/lEr8H4B8DAo/video.html Thanks again!
RIP Greg Staab. incredible driving
Thanks for posting! I used to record these for my dad, and was wondering how many people still remembered these. Good to know people still do....
Man I miss this series on ESPN. Used to love watching the sprint cars at IRP.
Eloora before the dust, great days
Excellent footage and song. Just read Steve's bio on Wikipedia. Amazing individual who wasn't afraid of risks, and he appears to have stepped on absolutely no-one to achieve his place in the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame. On top of that, he's a dedicated family man. Impressive!
Depends on your definition of stepping on folks. He wrecked a lot of guys. Billy Rose was a victim of his, look that wreck up.
Anyone can ride a fast motorcycle, But it takes a special person to ride a motorcycle fast!! Sideways with both feet up!!
Good Stuff!! Thanks for posting,
Great Race! Thanks for posting!!
what's the opening narration song

Nice job Stewd...remember the Fountainal Apts days for sure, you me Charlie, Veeskers, Ruper and Walter...good times. I remember the time we took Veeskers Opal out for a little spin....lol... Chip
most excellent wife
I'm a former speedway rider (D-2) & OSSA nut, I had a Borsh (DMR copy) framed, Stiletto lower, pioneer barrel w/ TT spec. sleeve, TT spec. head, DMR pipe....You can imagine how odd looking the engine was. Went broke & sold it after only blowing it up twice. Had a Champion Phantom & raced a couple times before it got ripped off. I still have a passion for Ossa's though. Even if I didn't ride much Short Track. My 1970 Daytona street bike burning Oilsall keeps the racer in Me alive. Loved the vid.
I remember watching Thursday Night Thunder with my Dad each week when I was younger. Some good memories there
I love this fucking race
I also like racing in the dirt and steetwith motorcyles and cars. I understand Steve's will to continue after crushing his pelvis as the same thing happened to me in a car. After that I raced my T140V Triumph Bonnevile 750 from 1977 to 1987 on the streets of Long Island. My Triumph and I successfully defended the Tittle of fastest motorcycle by beating every motorcycle from Japan and Italy for 10 years. Near the end it was sort of unfare as the Ninja's had 1100cc and F.I. but we still won.
