Steve Butler Wins 1992 Eldora 4-Crown Nationals Silver Crown Race

Steve Butler earns his 6th USAC National Championship with this "clutch" win at the 1992 Eldora 4-Crown Nationals. Butler comes into the event trailing Silver Crown point leader Jeff Swindell by 14 points-and must win to have any chance at the championship. Butler comes out swinging by clocking fast qualifying time and earning the pole position to join future NASCAR champion Tony Stewart on the front row. For the first half of the race Butler, Swindell and Johnny Parsons Jr. battle for the lead. In the final laps, Butler pulls away to win decisively, winning the championship by the unprecedentedly narrow margin of only 7 points.
