I enjoy being creative in my home work shop. I like working with wood and steel, making projects that come to mind and off my sketch pad. I post videos to gauge feed back and to hopefully inspire the maker in you. It is extremely satisfying when you finish a project and people ask where did you get that. I make stuff that will last and last. Aren't we all feed up with buying garbage from the "Big Box Store" that falls apart and breaks after a short while? If you are reading this far, you must be a maker or a maker in the making, that's terrific. We are all at different levels of skill and knowledge, but we are having a go at doing something that we love. All the best and I hope I hear from you and learn about your projects too.

DIY Tractor Forklift Tynes - Forme Industrious Off Grid Projects EP1
For all those that followed along in my "Going Off Grid" series Thank you! I still have a lot of work to do around the property, actually perhaps it will never end. I have longed to get back into the workshop and get some fun projects started but more important jobs always seem to arise and need to be done first. So I thought I may as well capture the stuff that keeps me busy in the workshop.
In this video I make a set of Tractor Forks to help save my back lifting various objects around the property. Please note; These are not load rated and I use them at my own risk/ I am the only one that uses them. You must use things like these sensibly. I do not lift heavy loads that a forklift would lift, please keep that in mind.
I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!
Regards
Scott

Bluetti AC500 B300S 7 Month Review used in the Off Grid Workshop
zhlédnutí 15KPřed měsícem
I have been using the Bluetti AC500 and B300S Combination now for over 6 months in my workshop. Using power tools and welders with the AC500 is a demanding task and the Bluetti unit has not let me down. In this video I discuss what I have found, good and not so good with this Bluetti package. I talk a little on how it may also suit your needs, or not. If you can build your own system that great...
Building my Shed Bar Room with a Faux Concrete look Wall- Forme Industrious
zhlédnutí 23KPřed 2 měsíci
It's been over two years since we started building on our rural acreage. First we built the big shed/ workshop and the our house. My Forme Industrious build have been well and truly put on hold with all the "other work" I have had to do (and still have to do). Time has come to get organised in the workshop. I need to properly set up the metalwork and wood work areas, and I also need a clean are...
Going off Grid Ep20 Dust, Slabbing Timber & Cyclones
zhlédnutí 16KPřed 5 měsíci
What a contrast we have going from the Dry season to the Wet season. We went from it being so dry and having bush fire all around to wet and green in such a fast period. We have a Huge pile of heavy tree trunks from the clearing for the buildings and we really hope to use as much of the good timber as possible. It's a massive job and so I bought a Stihl 91cc Chainsaw to help slab the trunks. It...
DIY Off Grid Solar Power System overview and comparison Bluetti AC500 Review
zhlédnutí 30KPřed 7 měsíci
First up: Bluetti gave me the AC500 and B300S for review. We don't need it, we already have a system, however we like the Bluetti systems and many people may benefit from sharing our experience and this review. Our DIY Off-Grid Power system powers our big shed and little shed home adequately. We have very modest power needs at the house and I do use the power for my workshop power tools. It pro...
Going Off Grid EP17 - We lost our Nala
zhlédnutí 23KPřed 9 měsíci
This is a very hard post for us. Nala our beautiful Kelpie x passed away on Sunday 22 October 2022. She has been a massive part of our lives for the last 6 years since she was a puppy and a lot of you have watched her as we share our journey moving off grid. So young! How it happened is a hard to explain freak accident. She was chasing the ball, running flat out when she crashed and tumbled. So...
Going Off Grid EP 13 - Fire Side Chat Off Grid Life so far

Judy and I (Scott) sit by the fire and talk about our Off Grid experience so far. It's not for everyone, but we are really enjoying the journey so far. We get our electricity from our solar power system and our water from what we collect from our roofs into our rain water tanks. It's a lot of work but is the good sort of work. Thanks for watching! Going Off Grid Ep11 - Shed Cabin Build Pt2

In the first video Judy and I built the steel Portal frame. In this video we finish the structure to Lock Up stage. Fit out is next. This is will be our tiny house/ cabin for at least the time it takes us to build an actual house. We have all our Owner Builder approvals in place. As far as shed kits go, I am very happy with the everything despite having minor issues. The supplier was great. Tot...
Going off the Grid Ep10 Shed Cabin Build Pt1

We finally got a start building our little Shed house/ Cabin. The video was getting quite long so we decided to make the build a two part video with the second video to be released in a week or so. In this video we go through the steps of building a steel framed kit shed. Along the way we find things don't go quite to plan, but where there is a will there is a way. Many thanks to Judy my belove...
Going off the Grid Ep 9 - We have our Cabin Slab!
zhlédnutí 43KPřed rokem
You learn patience when trying to build in the Tropics over the wet season. We have waited 5 months to get our Shed House (Cabin sized) foundation and slab work carried out. The land has a gradual slope on it and we decided to "cut and fill" rather than build up the land which would have been very expensive. Unfortunately when the cut and fill was done, it did not have enough of a gradient to a...

In this video I show two builds. The first being a stainless steel table made to the customer specification. I've never made anything out of stainless steel before. It's really nice to Tig weld! This time the legs are made from 10 x 100mm Flat ba...
Fixing my old 1978 Yanmar Tractor YM1700

Bought for $2500 AUD with a 4 foot slasher that was badly rotted out, plus a back blade and lifting jib. Took a bit of work to get this modest tractor fit for work again. Sure glad I bought this Tractor, I always wanted a shiny red tractor. Sure I'd love a 4x4 Tractor with a Front Loader but they are hard to find in my budget range. I hope you enjoy the video. Thanks for watching. Regards Scott
Going Off Grid - DIY 4600w Solar Lithium Battery Power System EP7

Like most of the projects I have tackled on this Off Grid adventure, putting together a larger Solar Lithium Battery system was a big deal. There is so much information out there on the inter webs, perhaps too much or it is too fractured. But being a "maker" I had to give it a go myself, with a bit of help. (Zero sponsorship or incentives etc, all funded by Judy and myself). If you are going to...

Welcome back. Sorry it's taking so long between videos. I have had very little internet access up here in the Boon Docks. I'll have to fix that. It's all plumbed in to our instant gas hot water system and it all seems to be working well. For paint ...

What a great back-saver! Good on, ya, Scott!
Now make a saw mill and save your back.
Nice to see a video again and know you have been well. Also to see your new pup having grown so much ! Godspeed!
I miss your videos Scott! Awesome job as always!!!! Big hug bro!!!! 💪🏻🙏🏻
G'day Scott and Judy. What a " Forkin great idea ". That'll save a lot of gut bustin' and makin' pongy's when you lift thing's. Can see you've been busy around the camp, great to see your mug on the tube again. All the best mate's.
Hi Scott, Take a look at Kris Harbour Natural Building UK... He built a DIY Mobile Bandsaw Mill. Your a damn good welder and I am sure you can do this. Especially if you looking to do wood work and getting from your surroundings. Look for DIY Mobile Bandsaw Mill. I think that would be a great project for you.... I Hope. Take care thanks for the Videos
I continue to marvel at your ingenuity, skill, resourcefulness and vision, Mr. Turner. You have chosen an enviable (if not occasionally daunting) life path that resonates. This YT channel you've created is a must see for me and I'm always anxious for the next episode. It's a testament to living well, and its positivism is much needed and appreciated in an otherwise stark and depressing YT landscape. Godspeed to you and Mrs. Turner and, cheers!
I thought the points of the forks go the other way round, so they don't catch on the bottom of palletts??
Well done! I really liked those close-ups at 2:12 to 2:20. Thanks for continuing to share all your adventures. Thumbs up.
👍👍👍
Amazing!! I know I’m a bit late but Would you happen to have the build details for this? Would love to make one for myself
Hey Scott, what's up? Good to see you in the shop again making stuff.. I see your new shop is considerably larger.. I know you'll get it organized properly to take full advantage of that extra space... Well Scott I don't want to take up too much of your time.. It's good to see your videos again.. Well you take care my friend and as always God Bless...
For some reason heavy stuff always needs to be moved . Now you have a handy tool to help with that . Thanks Scott
Love your work Scott see you on the next one 🇦🇺Perth 👍👍👍👍
Amazing that something so simple can be such a game changer!
Bravo et à très vite !
Those 4in1 buckets are relatively heavy even compared to a standard bucket. You’d gain lift capacity if you made a whole separate fork attachment. Simple frame with weld on euro hitch brackets.
this is great as always. do you have a vid on making the swarf magnetic thingy?
It's always a pleasure watching you videos! You built a nice set of forks useful for a variety of tasks. On my compact tractor and a few larger tractors I welded 2 short pieces of flat bar onto the sides and bottom of the bucket at a 45*, on both sides. Then cut two pieces of used drill rod steels to slid inside of those to make short log forks. The only purpose was to handle logs and they worked well.
Lots like a super handy project a real back saver. The shop is looking great Scott. I did not see the milling machine did you get rid of it. Thanks for the video love your projects.
👍
Hey Scott! Greetings from the Adirondacks. Really handy build. Many years ago I built a similar set out of an old backhoe frame, they worked quite well. I've since passed them along to an old friend and they are still in use today! Love that tractor! 💪
Well thought out and well made Scott. Love your ability to problem solve and achieve the desired outcome !
I have 5’ heavy duty forks on my son’s tractor. It doesn’t have a skid steer plate but does have an adapter plate. When I get it all connected the tractor becomes a little tippy. But I use the forks almost every day.
Such a handy solution Scott. Well done!
are you using engine oil for drilling? :)
Belle idée, bien réalisée, comme d’habitude, à bientôt salut Jeannot 🛠😉
We're getting older Scott and need to look after our backs. Great job 👍
Great idea Scott, I might make some for the father in-laws Tractor.
Bet you wish you had the setup when building the shed
Nice versatile addition to the tractor! Though I do miss the banter between you and Judy 😂
That old Yanmar tractor is looking pretty flash - it even has a front bucket now.
That gasless mig works better then I expected, does not having a shroud make it easier to aim?
It works fine. Saves renting Gas bottles if you don't do a lot of welding. Yes it's easier to see getting a start but most of all the shroud does nothing and gets covered in weld spatter so might as well take it off.
That begs the question Scott, what size and type of inverter are you using? Cheers.
It's a Victron Multiplus ii 48/5000. Just one at this stage. I have a second one to install which will give me 8000w of useable power. I have a full video on my system.
Just another good job!👏👏👏👏
Thanks Tomas!!
gday Scott good to see you again , i recon the SWL on those tines would be around 150 kg max but i do like what ya did ,,, oh and how hard is it to use the sawmill and how long to do a cut , depending on lenght ?
Your guess is a good one. Like I said it doesn't replace a forklift but it sure helps move stuff around even at around 150 kegs it's fantastic. The sawmill on Aussie hardwood is slow and tedious. Cutting around 3m takes a while, maybe 5 min. I would like to make a saw mill/ future project perhaps.
It's that Duramax orange again - one million views coming right up!
You know all my tricks Rob!
Nice. Thinking about the strength of the tynes (yes I was triggered); you actually want them to fail before anything else...like a fuse in an electrical circuit.
Cheers Ben! I have a slasher on the back and the hydraulics are pretty good so yes I'd hate to brake something on the bucket.
not sure what that horrible whirring noise was almost the entire video. but it made it almost unwatchable for me. especially at the beginning.
Sorry about that. I think it was the Cicadas. We had so many last summer and they are so loud. It's winter now, so quiet.
As Scott said, cicadas. They're standard in Australia during summer.
@@ScottTurnerformeindustrious I still watched it. Love the videos man
Love me a bit of outback ingenuity. Brilliant.
:) Thanks!
Fine job as always...still would like to see you build a saw mill you have most of the components. Enjoy watching .Thanks for taking the time to film
well done
Hey Scott let's get you to the 200k .
Well done Scott, now stop forking around and get back to work 😁
Gold!
Brilliant. I bet that saves you a bunch of back breaking work! Hope you and the wife are doing well. My daughter is now firmly located in NewCastle as a resident pediatric chiropractor, so a visit might be in store! What's the best time of year to visit for a soft old Canadian? LOL Cheers.
Thanks Rob! I reckon our winter; days of around 20 to 23 deg c, nights between nothing to about 11 or so. That would be like a hot Summer day for you guys ;) You would be very welcome if you do get the chance!
Cleaver. What was that bike early on?
Thanks! WR250r
Handy Dandy, a couple of tines is about the only thing I didn't have for my little Dingo back home in Oz. I always watch your videos to the end, I just wish others would do the same for my videos.
Need a tool, make a tool.
Hello Scott, I always enjoy your videos.
