Ever notice that Klingons (and ONLY Klingons) can turn off the Universal Translator at will? They don't even have to do anything, it's like the UT reads the Klingons' minds and knows when not to translate it.
The understanding between two fathers as well as the understanding of a baby who knows not only does he have his father with but a true Alpha male in Worf instinct tells this baby you are truly safe no one in the room will allow any danger to befall you.
This is probably the most iconic scene of the entire DS9.
0:06: Ooh, You in trouble. 😏
Speaking as a dreary man in a tedious job...it's not so bad.
Martok was rewarding courage and honesty, but also teaching his fellows that you cannot merely rely on your status as a klingon warrior to avoid conflict. Because even in the seemingly small and weak there is courage and bravery. And even though he would have won that battle handily, it is best not to tempt fate. That statement wasnt just for Nog.
0:24 Klingon in the background doing a passable impression of Paulie Walnuts.
This is legit one of the best episodes of the franchise, and an excellent use of two great actors' talents
Never pegged Miles as a Protestant
Arguably the best part of Picard inspecting the plaque for dust is the fact that the Enterprise probably doesn’t even have any dust on it.
0:19 I know the series never…excelled at fight choreography, but can we take a minute to respect how beautiful that slam was?
He is mansplaining. Her truth is as good as his. Maybe even better.
You can pinpoint the exact moment picard knew he had them by the balls! :D
What most people overlook in this episode while they're ooing and aahing over it was that Picard was lucky. It's not a black and white of "Take a chance" and "don't take a chance." Taking pointless, foolish chances is being a fool, not courageous. If Picard had been stabbed through the heart and died there in that room after puffing out his chest and getting in a fight, we'd all be saying "Pfft. What a freakin' moron. He should have known better" or things like "Well play stupid games, win stupid prizes" like we do for so many other people who take adventurous chances and die doing it. Sometimes the risk takers pay a high price for the risks they take because the risks were pointless. You can be adventurous and be willing to take a risk without being a fool, just as you can be careful and cautious without being an abject coward who never accomplished anything in your life and leading a dreary, boring existence.
The giveaway right there is that he is seeking Worf's approval, not Bashir's.
I like how Martok indicates his lost eye when talking about tempting fate, showing that he's speaking from experience.
“I will take him by the throat and rip out his esophagus…!” 😂😂😂
It's kind of adorable that every time Quark tastes something he likes, he says 'mmm' to himself
A Data/Bashir spin off would've been 🔥
Bashir is easily the best doc.
Morn is about Worfs build he could have taken him if he was prepared
Picard was always such a miserable old bastard as well as Worf
It's easy for a fictional show to pontificate to people in real life about taking risks. It certainly bears no consequence if those risks don't pay off.
Let’s put death to the test and see what happens. Is life overrated? Is death overrated? What if we are puppets in the hands of a cosmic tyrant and he fears that he would waste his puppets? Fuck you. 😂
Why did Picard engage in ridiculous fistfights instead of using his weapon? 😃
They don’t make shows like this anymore, Star Trek today doesn’t have the magic
This needs more likes and views!
This has to be one of the greatest moments in television history. The unfailingly moral Jean-Luc Picard assimilated by the Borg. So awesome.
This was a beautiful episode. This was the nicest thing Q ever did for Picard.
Good on Worf for knowing what O'Brien wants.
Worf is a bully. He is a Federation officer forcing this alien with a space ship, with threats of violence, where he wants to go is inappropriate.
The introduction of Bashir is awful. "Does Data's hair grow?"
Space lawyers lol😂😂😂😕🖖🏾
Dukat really saw himself as on par with The Sisko, and even friends in a way. The Sisko did not.
Easily one of my favorite episodes. Without the Ferengi the alpha quadrant would fall to pieces.
Smiles
Worf looks like ALF which ate cats. I will..... FEED him.... Then,..... I will EAT him......
Imagine O'Brien seeing all three of these individuals together.
Chief what's a grand slam: "What my ancestors used to order at a 20/21st century restaurant called Denny's while drunk at 4 AM"
always a shame he was never part of section 31 plot lines Garak: "let me get this straight doctor, your telling me the federation has secret version of the obsidian order, which commits all kinds of espionage, assassinations etc, meanwhile the federation just looks the other way and pretends they dont exist?" Bashir:"unfortunately yes" Garak: "my respect and admiration for the federation has reached new heights i never imaged were possible"
He was so cute before telling his story.
1:13 an incredible perfoermance.
Would be very interesting to see how the version of Picard that played it safe would've fared in Yesterday's Enterprise x Tapestry episodic crossover. He probably would've been executed for desertion or collaboration with the enemy.
Okay, I'm a curmudgeon and this one passes the test. This is wisdom. Being the perfect, blameless, social ape is a fool's mission. Being the perfect social performer is not enlightenment. Quite the opposite. Enlightenment means dispensing with mere sentiment and convention - moving further away from polished social performer status. Enlightenment means more and more inhabiting the office of intellectual autonomy.
That subtly smug look on his face before opening the channel the first time.... Hah!😆
DATA SCHOOLS THIS WOMAN CLASS
And corks ears are ringing
Birth of section 31
For a Klingon with such refined tastes in music, Worf can't carry a tune in a bucket. 🤪🤣 I mean, it sounds like it would take a concerted effort to screw up Klingon opera, but Worf somehow manages it. 😂
