    Kia Ora, a long question, but I hope you may answer. I'm a 60 year old pakeha, lived in Aotearoa for 25 years, and to my shame, I have not learned Te Reo. I live and work where nobody speaks Maori. Last Easter I spent a few days on a Marae and was overwhelmed by the aroha. What would be the best way for someone like me to start with learning Te Reo. Nga Mihi.

    • @EmbracingTeReoMaori
      @EmbracingTeReoMaori Před měsícem

      Kia ora e hoa. So great to hear your honest thoughts. I too feel the aroha when I walk on to a Marae. Did you look at Te Wānanga O Aotearoa courses? Depends where you live of course, but these face to face classes are wonderful. They are no-pressure, safe classes, the teachers are top quality, and really want to see you succeed and have fun. If you want to study from home, they also offer home based learning courses. Have a look at "He Papa Tikanga" course. I did this and learnt a lot about culture, tikanga and history. If you were after language for beginners, check out.... www.twoa.ac.nz/nga-akoranga-our-programmes/te-reo-maori-maori-language/nz-certificate-in-te-reo-online Of course, you have Scotty Morrison's books ("Māori Made Easy.) They begin nice and easy/slowly, and gradually get more challenging. There are so many resources out there and a lot of leaders/teachers who want to see you embrace the language and have fun. Ka pai e hoa, my utmost apologies for such a delay in replying. I hope this message finds you well. Mauri Ora.
