    Ka awatea.
    Appear the sunrise
    Appear the dawn
    The birds are chattering
    The beaks moving
    The important early morning
spreading over the surface of the earth
    The dawn chorus
    Daylight
    ........................................
    Kia hora te marino

Hei huarahi mā tātou i te rangi nei
    Aroha atu
    Aroha mai
    Tātou i a tātou katoa.

    From the thought the remembrance
    From the remembrance the consciousness
    From the consciousness the desire
    From the desire the learning
    From the learning the understanding
(Great to use at a wānanga or noho)
    .............................................
Whakataka te hau ki te uru
Whakataka te hau ki te tonga
    Kia mākinakina ki uta
    Kia mātaratara ki tai
E hī ake ana te atākura
He tio, he huka, he hau hū
    Tīhei mauri ora!
The wind swings to the west
    then turns into a southerly.
    making it prickly cold inland,
and piercingly cold on the coast.
    May the dawn rise red-tipped
on ice, on snow, on frost.
    Join! Gather! Intertwined!
    (Or what I was taught)
Cease the winds from the west
Cease the winds from the south
Let the breeze blow over the land
Let the breeze blow over the ocean
Let the red-tipped dawn come with a sharpened air.
A touch of frost, a promise of a glorious day.

@@EmbracingTeReoMaori Tēnā koe! E kore tērā... he iti... Whakataka te hau, "te uta", instead of "ki uta". I see you've written the correct version in the description. You could call it a little test, reminding people to do their due diligence, haha. Personally I say it's fine... but karakia IS tapu. Hmmm haha. Kia mau ki tōu kaupapa e hoa! Love it.
