BABBDI was not what I was expecting
Short(ish) video about a short game. Maybe I'm a little late to the BABBDI train (pun intended), but hopefully this video is enjoyable and I can add at least something to the discussion of this weird exploration game.

The Best Minecraft Feature that Was Removed From the Game

Today I'm looking at a very old but very interesting version of Minecraft. Indev is extremely basic, and yet this version from 2010 has some amazing features that even modern Minecraft lacks. Join me as I progressively struggle more and more to say "isometric screenshot". I'm playing through the Betacraft launcher. I agree, not always more is better, sometimes simple is better indeed.
I love and miss old Minecraft :(
This is an awesome world, feels so classic
New Minecraft almost completely lacks any and all atmosphere. That creepy, lonely, melancholy, yet subtly beautiful feeling of old Minecraft is what compels me to play it over any newer version.
I swear to god I once saw him with red eyes in a dungon. I went fucking crazy and didnt play for months. Now looking back, I have no idea what it was. But I was 100 % sure it was him and he chased at me. In addition to that, after sleeping in game after this encounter in the same bed a allways, when waking up, there was fucking gravell on me and I nearly died had I not unbuild it. Like what the fuck? I still think if it were just two weird bugs, that realy was a weird coincidence.
Beauty in simplicity. 1. 2. 5. was my main version. Unforgettable vibde.
Love your videos Dialko. Your voice is very chill. Can you play modern MC sometime? It'd be interesting to see how you learn and adjust.
this might be why i stopped playing minecraft as much as i used to. i find with each update i play it less and less, where as i used to play it all the time back 10-15 years ago
Enderbent will never convert to MS Minecraft.
with the lack of content, simpler games force you to be more creative. people are so used to instant-gratification that simple games don't appeal to them.
08:03 Ha! Get pickaxe-axe-sworded!
Something that fascinates me about indev, and it's harder for me to find this now, is where people were doing Let's Plays of indev and then when infdev came out they upgraded their worlds to infdev and had build pathways out of their original map. So one I saw the guy elevated all the terrain to put his base in kind of a valley with one main entrance and 2 kind of small entrances and maybe it was just mere chance but it generated the world in a way that kind of fit naturally when he started exploring the infdev world. Not sure how he did it or what the game was like back then. I assume it just updated normally or maybe he used a mod. This was in my earliest days discovering Minecraft watching videos at that time and led me to purchase the game for like 13 bucks in beta 1.3 or 1.4 I think it was. I just know when I got it beds in the patch notes had just started properly working and there was something added that specific update, can't remember. Trips down memory lane with Minecraft in particular are fascinating and kinda trippy honestly.
Id never say herobrine isnt real, thats how he gets you
some of your arguments here remind me of a thought experiment i once heard people tend to prefer having fewer options when it comes to ice cream (i.e. just chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry instead of 40+ flavors) because it makes deciding much easier; having too many options will make it harder for customers to decide what flavor they want, unlike cases where there aren't many options
Started playing beta and it’s taking me a while to get used to not being able to shift click to put something in a furnace, chest, etc.
Your style of video is also reminiscent of older Minecraft series, with a pleasant and refreshing scenic pace. You mentioned that the more the blocks changed, the more complicated the builds became, and I think the same goes for popular Minecraft videos. The more advanced the game got, the more ppl adopted the “go big or go home” video style. Not that those are bad, they can be very entertaining at times, but I find myself getting burnt out with the scripts and goals that a normal player could never dream of achieving. TLDR: really love the vid style! The natural way of chatting is a breath of fresh air in the sea of Minecraft content!
I don't think makes a lot of sense, but I felt at home watching this video. This is EXACLTY how I feel about old versions of Minecraft. I do love a lot of the things in the newer versions, but sometimes I miss the simplicity! I feel kinda overwhelmed playing nowadays, part because of the number of things in the game, but also because of the expectations of other players. Like, I don't wanna build 100 different farms of a very complex redstone contraption, I mean, I don't have to, but I some newer youtubers use them so much that sometimes I feel like a douche mining for iron when I could just farm it. Idk if this made any sense, but all in all, amazing video my man, congrats.
Making my own goals is just something I struggle to do.
I used to be the “OLD MINECRAFT ONLY” mindset, but i got back into it recently and i prefer all the new updates but thats just me , i wish i had all my old tutorial world still tho (Bedrock player)
They have to reintroduce this isometric screenshot feature, I'd love to have screenshots like these of my worlds as wallpapers. It could help to feel more involved in our saves.
You could copy and import a world, then go in world painter to see a full 3d model
"Paradise, lots of sand" I can pretty safely say that Anakin would not find that to be a "paradise" 🤣
Very interesting. I've been thinking about going back to an older version for some time, for a lot of the same reasons you've actually mentioned. Some things, you put into words things that I could not. This feels like a gentle nudge towards finally loading it up. Maybe then I could actually break the cycle I have where I try to make a plan, get overwhelmed, and then mine forever with unenchanted iron tools. Or, another one I do; find a place to build, stare the blank canvas, log out and never come back. That said, to me, the most important feature I would want to keep is the ability to be left-handed.
Something I used to find frustrating but now I’ve grown to appreciate about Beta is the fact that you can’t sprint and traversing the world is so slow. Now I recognize it as a way for the game to incentivize building. When I play Beta I find myself building way more pathways and bridges than I do in modern Minecraft, because I can’t just quickly sprint/swim across the world. Ultimately, it makes my Beta worlds much prettier and more lively
okay, this is a really good video. i remember being 4 - 5 and i think i remember not being able to play minecraft alone cause i was horrified of herobrine
i get your point
Minecraft just isn't treated like a video game anymore, it's not made by people who would love to play it themselves anymore, it's managed by big wig ceo fcks over at Microcock
12:26 please just use Programmer Art aka "the real textures" already, this modern shit, literal shit is bleaching my eyes. I almost puke everytime I see them.
I don't even like b1.7.3 that much, I rather play b1.3 and a1.2.6. AND NO, IT'S NOT BECAUSE OF NOSTALGIA. I never thought like that.. People so braindead nowadays.
Yes, the old version took me back in time, choose it Old version《Minecraft》 to immerse yourself in it
i fully agree to what you are saying
I remember playing minecraft when I was 4 because I would to beg my dad to buy it for me and I had so much fun even though all I did was spam blocks in a dessert village it was so fun I was so lucky I got to play at such a young a
What a great video, very nostalgic and good points made!
I really, really agree with the building part. Everything is more... minecraft, in old minecraft. The terrain, scale of builds, block palettes, fog, sky color, cloud height, lighting engine, textures, everything goes along and create the vibe of "Minecraft". Everything mix and match in terms of simplicity. As a modern minecraft player and texture/mod creator who plays many hours daily basis training building skills and survival skills etc, the pure joy of beta players is what I'm seeking for the most.
and I'm not even talking about the many series that were made at the time. A lot of memories forever.
What's the minecraft music at 20:31
Modern Minecraft does everything old Minecraft does with more blocks. You can still use old blocks and make simple buildings
Old Minecraft player here, also played the Free PE when I didn't have a computer. Free PE was really buggy and it was SO difficult to jump. I literally just went in creating the biggest Zombie hoard I possibly could at night, and they follow you no matter how far away you go. It was a blast really. Though, now that I'm an adult, and have had Minecraft for a long time.. I feel like I need a refresher and something more than beta Minecraft or free PE. Therefore, I find old Minecraft boring now, and much prefer new Minecraft. I play for more danger, and more blocks to build with to expand the pallet. I like when there are games where you could make anything. Over all, new Minecraft has brought me new Minecraft hobbies in the game when it comes to the nether, the new caves, and hoarding materials.
Please keep the content going. Great relaxing videos to watch mate cheers.
This man has no enemies
cant wait for alchemist guild
I want to play beta so badly but I've gotten so used to sprinting that it just feels weird
I’ve been on my beta grind lately too. Nostalgia is powerful but, honestly the simplicity has been great. Plus with the limited amount of blocks they all just flow together.

I play 1.13 on legacy edition more than I do with modern Minecraft. With way more features than the bedrock version, I enjoy playing on legacy edition. Between it’s easy-to-use controls customs super flats and the familiarity of the world gen, makes legacy edition my favorite version to play overall.
I believe old minecraft was good too, but why not just play 1.8?
if i hadn’t started playing minecraft in beta, i don’t think i would’ve picked it up later. if i hadn’t slowly learned the updates as they came out, it all would’ve been too overwhelming at once :’^) i honestly don’t know how people do it lol
