Though I sure don't want to limit myself to any specific topics... Right now, I am primarily focusing on tools and gear that help me get by in the sometimes harsh environment I live in. I like to highlight tools and gear that make my work and play easier and more enjoyable, while also providing me advantages that let me enjoy the outdoors longer. When many similar products exist that are designed for similar purposes and marketed in a similar manner, I like to figure out what is best. Along the way, sometimes I can find some real gems and sometimes I can identify things that just don't stack up. CZcams lets me share what I discover with you.
Moving from Benchmade 710 to Protech 921 Godfather
I am taking my trusty Benchmade 710 McHenry and Williams Axis Lock Folding Knife out of service for a while and have decided to carry a Protech Godfather Automatic Knife/Switchblade in its stead. The Benchmade 710 knife is going to go on a trip to visit @TheApostleP for a spa day (fluff and buff he calls the service, I think) and to get a well deserved, long overdue re-profile and mirror edge. That knife has served me not just well, but absolutely perfectly these many years and it deserves professional care.
Due to a law change in my State, I am only recently able to own and carry an automatic knife. This Protech Godfather is the first of many I intend to own. From here, I'll probably go to an OTF like the Microtech Troodon or a Benchmade Infidel. After owning the Protech Godfather for a week, I'm questioning my choice for a couple of reasons which are well addressed in the video.
Stuff on the table:

Leatherman Supertool 300 amzn.to/2MnMl8n

TIHK PicoPick Lock Pick Set
zhlédnutí 11KPřed 4 lety
TIHK, makers of the Tiny Inconspicuous Handcuff Key, have come out with the PicoPick which they are billing as the smallest lock pick set on the market. This was a pre-order item for several months and has now shipped. I've had my Pico Pick for several days now and I'm ready to share my thought on this lock pick set. Also, I compare it to another small lock pick kit that fits in the pocket easi...
Bees In Slow Motion Working My Raspberry Patch
zhlédnutí 174Před 5 lety
Nature Video. Several slow motion clips of honey bees working in my raspberry patch. the clips were shot with my OnePlus 6 at 720p 480 frames per second and the music is a royalty free Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. Honey Bees and Bumblebees are fascinating. And I'm pretty thankful for the work they do pollinating the plants and trees that produce my food.
Olight S1A and S2A Baton ThruNite Archer 1A V3 and Archer 2A V3

This is not a review nor is it really a direct comparison between any of these flashlights. I talk about a few things I think have been glossed over, missed, or misconstrued by other youtubers and folks who discuss items like this in the EDC and flashlight forums. In particular, I discuss the technology differences, feature differences, and then give a few ideas regarding the defense features o...
2Go Systems Reflect 20D Reflect 100 Thermal Reflective Waterproof Tarp
zhlédnutí 24KPřed 6 lety
This is a thorough look at the Reflect 20D Tarp from 2Go Systems. This model is the Reflect 100 since it's a 10'X10' tarp. He also makes one called the Reflect 120 and that one is a 12'X10' tarp. These are very well made and have some extra features including but not limited to an aluminized thermal reflective coating on one side (an aluminum coating on a waterproofed nylon tarp! What a brillia...
DD Bergen Rucksack Unboxing + Tent Pegs and Fire Piston

This is an unboxing video of some items I just received from DD Hammocks. I got some new superlight tent pegs to replace a couple that I have lost. I got a Fire Piston to try out a method of fire starting I've never tried before. And, I bought the DD Bergen Rucksack. I am very excited about all three items, but particularly the DD Bergen Rucksack. It is the newest version and seems to have some...
Cairn Adventure Subscription Box Dec 2016 from Cairn Outdoor

This is an unboxing and look at each item in the Cairn Adventure Box from December 2016. Cairn Outdoor does monthly, quarterly, and annual subscription boxes of outdoor gear. They also do individual holliday boxes that are different than their monthly boxes. The December 2016 box contains a 20L Stuff Sack called a "Segsac" (which I really love) from Gobi Gear, a FixnZip zipper repair kit that m...

This is an in-depth look at The Hammer Slingshot/Slingbow from Simple Shot Shooting Sports. I have shot it recreationally and used it for hunting small game, varmints, and rodents almost every day for the last two months. I describe my experience with both the slingshot and the slingbow in detail. This is an impressive, well made, unique, and innovative design. It is an absolutely exceptional r...
Trailblazer Buck Saw Reincarnated!!! - Filzer Buckster BBS-1 Bow Saw
zhlédnutí 7KPřed 7 lety
The trailblazer take down buck saw has been reincarnated! It has been brought back to life! This excellent design is now being manufactured by Filzer and has been given some improvements including a stainless steel tension bar, upgraded aluminum construction, and a very nice vibration reducing, grip increasing neoprene handle. This is by far the strongest design for a take down bow saw. It pack...
10X10 Thermal Reflective Tarp - The Kany/Yuedge Sunshade Rainfly
zhlédnutí 13KPřed 7 lety
This is a close look at another personal shelter sized waterproof/water resistant tarp. This particular tarp has two things really going for it. 1) It is very inexpensive. and 2) One side of it is theremal reflective so if you like to build reflector lean to's or super shelters, this might be exactly what you need because it is far larger than any other thermal reflective tarp or blanket or she...
Shooting the Hammer Slingshot Slingbow from Simpleshot

These were the first shots I took with The Hammer Slingshot/Slingbow from Simpleshot in both slingshot mode and in slingbow mode. This is just a "first shots" video and not a review. I will be doing an in-depth review in the near future... but I want some more time with it so I can accurately describe what it's like to use it in a lot of circumstances including carrying it in my pack, target pr...
Slingshots: SimpleShot Torque vs SimpleShot FlippinOut Scout

This is a comparison and discussion regarding the SimpleShot FlippinOut Scout and the Simple Shot Torque slingshots (catapults). I shoot them both (and while I'm at it do the wooden nickle challenge for a free band set from SimpleShot) by shooting a wooden nickel at 33 feet. In this video, I discuss the similarities and differences between these two slingshots (catapults) and I have quite a lot...
Affordable Ultra-Light Camp Chair - Tribe Provisions Compact Field Stool

This is an "Essential gear" video. This Tribe Provisions Ultra-Light Compact Field Stool is one of my favorite pieces of gear and gets my highest recommendation. It folds up to just over 16" long, 2 1/2 inches diameter and only weighs 12 ounces. This is a highly portable, very light, very strong camp chair and I think everyone should have one. In fact, the size of these lends itself very well to making coach seat...

well worth the watch and learn prior to purchase, your a legend, warm regards from over the pond in blighty, namaste
Your nitpicking is greatly appreciated. Excellent product review in my opinion!
I think the only thing that could make this square tarp better is a diagonal ridge line from corner to corner with the loops attached.
Best Tarp presentation i ever see
Bad luck, 3 pairs of perrys not one issue.. and i thrash all mine..
Thank you for telling me about twisting the pouch because I'm a TTF SHOOTER myself and when I went to OTT I started getting fork hits sometimes myself and my Zone slingshot from SNIPERSLING I paid 170 dollars for its a MINNI ROBBIN CUSTOM and its OTT and I had a few fork hits and damaged it on the fork so I was pissed off majorly. So thanks for the tip with twisting the pouch il try it out my friend.
It's very sensitive today 🤣
What a beautifully explained exhibition of saws and their attributes. Thank you!
Watched probably a dozen reviews and yours is the first to show the negatives. Glad you did as I want a tarp to use mostly as an A frame tarp.
This is an exceptional review. Owning a Sven 21”, and corona saw equivalent, I’m now looking at adding the boreal 21”. Your comment around the halfway point is exactly what I think about when considering design and length. I mainly use these really for backpacking. I typically reach for the sven every trip for the ease of sliding into a side pouch. One can easily craft a cotton canvas sleeve to prevent such possible scuffing of the pack due to some edges on the saw like mentioned in this video. I’m also not a fan of anything bigger than 21” because you then start to consider how you will pack or attach something so long on a trek. So back to the comment I’m talking about. “What are you looking to do with your saw, and how big of materials?” Yes I always thought the triangle design to be a limiting factor but in reality on a trek, you are looking for the 4-5 inch wheelhouse logs because who wants to be spending time splitting when you can be enjoying nature or sitting by the fire or whatever it is. This is exactly what happens when I’m out in the backwoods. I grab the Sven and look for nice 5 inch deadwood branches off the ground. It’s not the end all be all saw, but don’t let the triangle design limit your options. It’s an all around great saw for the bush and I probably will pick up a boreal 21” to add to my kit. Thanks for the video!
I expect you could spray some type of lubricant on the blade before and during use . And some type of cleaner afterwards
that is one dumb a$$ design
The tie out material perhaps needs to be thought of in terms of 550 cord - I am thinking if one needs to pull the tarp so tight as to possibly compromising the tie out, the tarp as well will be compromised - For that one need not be stronger than the other and there should be no concerns to that regard particularly with DD tarps which are of great quality. Like you my preferences are Aqua Quest and DD, NO due to other videos you made I knew nothing of Aqua Quest until I saw your review you made years ago. I hope all is well with you - Your reviews are the next best thing to checking out a product in person, very detailed and in depth..
Tôi có thể mua ở đâu vậy.
LOOK UP , INTO THIS SLINGBOWING THERES A GUY THATS KILLED A GRIZZLY 🐻 BEAR AND OTHER BIG GAME ANIMALS WITH HIS BOW 😁 LOOK UP GRIZZLY KILL WITH SLING BOW ??? 🤔
HOW DOES BADGER TASTE JUST STEW MEAT OR CAN YOU STEAK IT UP ?
I fully expect your best jokes when I tell you that it tastes just like beaver.
THIS WAS SUCH A GREAT PRESENTATION THEY SHOULD PAY YOU SOME KUDO'S FOR THIS ONE YOU COVERED IT ALL AND HI VIS DEAL MAY NEED SOME LOOKING INTO FOR PLACEMENT OPTIONS , WE NOTICED WITH LIGHT UP SIGHTS ON OUR BOWS WAS A GOOD IDEA MOST TIMES YOU COULDN'T SEE 👁️👁️ THE PREY PAST THE LIGHT , BUT FIBER OPTIC WITH LIGHT ON BOTTOM OR SIDE OR IM THINKING MELTING A SMALLER SLOT IN BOTTOM OF CHANNEL WHOLE AND GLUING IT IN MIDDLE OF CRACK CENTER
if you could only choose one, would you choose dd 3x3 or Aquaquest safari 10x10?
For 50 cents difference, no brainer for F180
Thank you for your review!
Thank you for your thoroughness Ripstop is fantastic BUT it wont completely.😊 Single stitch I thought meant a single pass of the sewing machine - The BCUSA anchor points I believe look tough, only because I am familiar with how strong nylon webbing is. You'll should never have any issues. What creates the weakness on the BCUSA are the holes created by the needle, there should be reinforcement in the fabric, however I would submit the BCUSA is double stitched. With the detail you go into your reviews are fantastic. Many reviews are just a fraction - Someone will make coffee, call the dog, set a product up tell you they like it.. If you have the time please keep going with reviews. - Thank you
Old innertubes make the best bands and there free.....Never needed to kill anything....40yr blackwidower
Corona is the real king of folding saws. I bought this saw with the shesth. I'm hoping my Corona 7" will fit in the sheath.
I have a Corona 7" folding saw, because they perform as well as Silky, for 1/3rd the price. I was considering returning my Corona for this Wicked Tough saw, due to the advertising of strength, and the fact that I can buy one with a sheath. It's tough to find sheaths for Corona folding saws. I'm still not sure if I should make the switch, because the Corona's perform ridiculously well, when it comes to cutting ease.
Great looking rifle,Got one only mine has sights.
Ive searched high and low online for the Hammer XT master kit but every single supplier is always sold out. Have they stopped stocking this or stopped making this in the UK ?
Glow in dark paint 🎨 where u sight is
It's a shame we now in a world where we got through all this B.S. explanation for all the different versions of people , if they dont like the content ,then don't watch lol lmao ,good job on video bro !!!
How much of a percentage do you say the fire resistance in camp is this tarp?
The small one is fine for overnight stuff. But if you want to build a cottage, the Katanaboy is king!
great information... kinda like ordering from proshot catapults in UK... they have the hathcock in cast aluminum.. n several other designed by Bill i just got the Ranger from them... on clearance.. as well as the PPMG +PRO it's pretty much what the hathcock is but a more hand friendly design by Gamekeeperjohn... great vid like to see some of your gopher hunting...
Every high end tactical bag I've owned have gone soft. I just place my small items in lightweight cube bags. I prefer the broken in bag rather than a boxy brick on my back.
I’ve got 2 no problems
Considering taking advantage of their Black Friday sale for a pair of Perry Select's but just not sure now. any updates with your Whites? Thanks
Getting a working pair of boots from Whites was difficult and tedious... but they did indeed take care of the warranty issues and even covered return shipping all 5 times. They didn't make excuses, but I honestly think they were having staffing and training problems during my little ordeal with them. I only live about a days drive from Whites. If I was going to buy another pair of boots from them, I would go there in person to get fitted, pick out exactly what I want from their available inventory, and wear them around the store for a bit to make sure there aren't any quality control issues. .. I think the vast majority of people don't have the same sort of trouble I did and for what I read here and there on the internet, I think they have their staffing and training issues more or less solved now.
Yeah fortunately I’m right down the street from them and went back 3 times to return. I’m happy with them now but if I didn’t live nearby I don’t think I would’ve gone through the process
AMERICANS, PORTORICANS, AFRICANS, MEXICANS, CANS, AND THE REST OF CANS.
way more information than expected. You gave me enough info to make my decision. Thanks so much.
My Whites Perry Select are flawless and quite.
That was the first time a tester had full control of all sample cuts .
When sparks from a fire lands on it what happens ?
The torque all day
I think you would be guided to one of them catapults because of where your from. I personally would go for a ppmg+
PPMG+ has been around a little over 4 years, I think. I made this video pretty close to 7 years ago.
@@betweenfiveandseven I'd still go for a ppmg or sg any day pal.
I just ordered this tarp 10x10 camouflage off Amazon, can't wait to try it out! Thanks for reviewing this tarp!
Great review
Is this woodland camo?
Hoping all is going well for you, I see it has been a minute since this was posted - How has the tarp held up for you?
Despite pseudo experts claims hunting large game with a slingbow is questionable at best and a massive bad idea at worst even if it is legal in anyones AO.
Why are you shaking?
48:47 great time for a Wolverine Ad lol hilarious
I suppose I would liken it to a sythe on a long handle and a short handle, the blades can be the same and yet it's the length of the handle and the physics involved that matter more.
I am biased and would always choose a torque something about that pinch grip. I have tried many slingshots and always keep the Torque on my person. I believe you were the one that got me into using straight cut bands, we was discussing it on the forum. Never got to say thanks for that by the way (was quite a few years back before the band cut templates were hitting the scene big time).
