So I worked at Apple for 16 years under both steve and Tim. I have mixed feelings about this. Tim is a brilliant operations guy. Best I’ve ever seen. But he isn’t a product or marketing visionary. And that’s really what drives Apple. Tim has lived off the fumes of iPhone. No real innovation since steve. He’s driven sales and increased revenue. But the magic is gone. Most of the executives have left.

I don't understand why people are evangelizing this man. He is a horrible person who pushed corporate greed to its absolute breaking point. Apple's success shouldn't be measured by net profit earnings alone. Apple doesn't want you to repair products you own. They rely on cheap labor via sweat shops, and they tout going "green" but then insist on everyone using their own proprietary lightning cables (legal ramifications forced them to adopt usb-c). They hold a monopoly so powerful and show little remorse for the laws they've broken at our expense. Tim Cook is an incredible businessman who is undeterred any and all ethical ramifications worth consideration. Apple doesn't deserve your praise.

Steve Jobs was an inventor, a creative person. Tim Cook is executor, a logical person. Tim Cook stretched the heritage of Steve Jobs to the max, and then he couldn't proceed forward any longer. Apple tried to remove the charger port of the iPhone, they failed because of the physics or, better, because they didn't know physics very well. Apple tried to build an FSD car, but they failed because of a lack of inventive capabilities; Steve Jobs would have selected the right type of dreamers to write the FSD software; Tim Cook couldn't do it. But he knows how to utilise the human personality; the watch is a masterpiece of how an human trait - vanity - was utilised to create the need for an useless product which is the showpiece for the persons which are very careful to the image they project. Apple may fade as a damp squib if they don't invent a successful product of the same caliber of the iPhone.

Apple had to "bend the knee" as you call it to those EU regulations. They are pretty clear cut laws and the alternative to not obeying them would have been to stop selling iPhones in EU. This was not a negotiation, it was not a court case that they lost or settled. You do not go to court for an exemption from a law that is meant to regulate precisely the type of product that you're selling.

The Apple today does not have the same aura or "Apple magic" it did when Steve was alive and around. Tim is good at business and supply chains, but the vision isn't there. Apple products sell well because you can't have an iPhone or an Apple watch on their own. You can't own a Apple watch and use Android and vice versa. That's by design. So it's already expected that if you own one Apple item you will probably buy others because only Apple products can work with each other and that's how Apple designed them.
