I was born and raised in Georgia, where the main religion is eastern orthodox Christianity. When we, females, young or old, did not wear a dress or a skirt, we were given cloths to wrap around our waists to cover us. I don't know how other churches act in different countries, but that's how I saw :] they also provided the head coverings aswell.
Yes, this happens in some places even in Catholic churches
@@russianchristianity oh, cool! :)) going to my first orthodox church after over 2 years. Needed some refreshing tips, thank for the cool video. God bless you

Does this work in a serbian orthodox church too?
I believe so, yes
I am so looking forward to meeting my Russian brother in law and his family, to visit my wife's first church, to visit the amazing war memorial in Volgograd. God, heal the division between my country and Russia. God Bless Russia!
Nonsense. Stop it. Western culture is bankrupt. If you need a sermon on that you will find many American pastors agree with you. Ukraine may not be innocent but neither is Russia. Christians desire peace.
Are you an orthodox believer yourself?
No, I'm not
Always have manners and the utmost respect when entering any holy place of the Lord. Common sense folks. Hush and listen, dress properly with respect for Christ.
so he happened to be both married and a monk
yep, but he divorced her first
@@russianchristianity Divorcing spouses to "serve" the Lord saddens me. It's like when the Pharisees believed they could escape the fourth commandment by claiming they could give the honor to God instead of their parents. Unless the marriage is annulled or the cause of divorce is valid, it seems like a travesty for someone to break apart a marriage to follow a holy order.
@@jonathanhamilton2504 Yes, it does seem a bit hypocritical

Who are you talking to, friend?
@@russianchristianity friend! I have a question! My question is 👉If the Christian deity is truly wise, why didn't He predict that adding an odd son & weird trinity to Abrahamic monotheism would lead to massive amounts of hate & uncertainty ?
@a-the-1st324 I'm not the one to address this kind of a question. I'm a social scientist studying Christians in Russia, not a theologian studying Christian apologetics
Interesting. Have you looked into the Russian Orthodox Churchs' involvement in the World Council of Churches?
This is an interesting topic and Nikodim was one of the key figures in it
Putin spent $LOTS$ to build new churches and staff them with his ministers. They help control the people in exchange for fancy hats, capes, beard cream, prestige and of course $Money$. "God wants you to fight in Ukraine and Putin is a patron of God". Stuff like that. It's KGB shit.
His codename as a KGB agent was Svyatoslav.
Well, I haven't addressed the KGB rumors because there are those for each and every active Soviet bishop.
Seems likely they all sacrificed a pinch of Incense to the idols. 😥
@@SieddMcNeil Could be. Many were put into a position of choosing between their principles and their Church
@@russianchristianity that's the way I understand it also. I'm not judging as I'm sure many were put through hell and even patriarch Tikon changed his tune somewhat after being imprisoned by the Bolsheviks. For the ones that came after it would've been easier to go with the Soviet flow. May the good Lord have mercy on them and us! 🙏

Are books that are not found in the Hebrew canon (e.g. Maccabees) considered inspired by the Holy Spirit? If no, was this always the case in the Russian Orthodox Church? For example was this the same approach to these books in the 14th century lets say? Thank you
The Apocrypha are a part of the Orthodox Bible. Although they are not considered inspired, they are considered "useful for the soul"
@@russianchristianity Was this the case all the time? Or is this approach to these books introduced later. I know Philaret Drozdov already did not considered these inspired, but what about earlier centuries, like in the 14-th, 15th or 16th century?

Patriarch Kirill is a war criminal, promoting genocide and mass murder. He is most definitely not a Christian.
sadly, you might be right
and earlier it was like this: "A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife" (1 Timothy 3,2)
Yep, both historical churches broke that commandment

Because clearly I'm not an expert ;-)
I was split between visiting my local Catholic church or Orthodox church. After some research, i saw the catholic church was almost entirely hispanic (not that theres anything wrong with that) and even had a mariachi band. Im sure the lyrics were nonsecular, but it was a mariachi band. Think ill check out the orthodox church

Bloody idiot
Why?
I see they believe in icons. God is very clear about icons, you can read Exodus 20:4-6 The Second Commandment against idolatry is recorded in Exodus 20:4-6: 4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath, or in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not worship them nor serve them; for I’m the Lord your God, am a jealous God, inflicting the punishment of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing favor to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments
They don't believe icons are idols but graphic representations of God and saints
He's bringing the Satriyuga back. The Kaliyuga has to end sometime. Today's world is a sick place, and he's a futurist.

The 20th Century Russian Orthodox saint, St. Seraphim of Vyritsa (died 1949) made a prophecy about Russia and a war. He said that Russia will lose a war against the combined Western Powers. As a result of its defeat, Russia will be broken apart (dissolution of the Federation?). China will take Siberia and Russian lands all the way to the Urals. The Saint also said that Russia will rise as a spiritual power after this defeat and forced humility, and will shine the light of salvation to world. People will come from all over the world to Russia to be saved. So there is hope. But first Putinist Russia must be defeated.
We'll see

Yes, better be careful or there will be a colour revolution in St. Petersburg one day. I'm talking about the decision to invite all the pro-lgbtetc socially liberal youtubers from the US to attend this year's International Economic Forum. Whose idea was it? The mayor's?? Traitor.
So, in his zeal, unknowingly, he became a protestant himself. 😢 Lord have mercy.
I think in older times, most people were like him ? Okay, society has changed but has morales changed ? If God created morales, which He did, they don’t change in time. Yes, he is radical on some things. Yes, homosexuality is a grave sin, but do you refuse the sinner to come at your shop ?
