Bowel Cancer UK
United Kingdom
Registrace 3. 04. 2009
Bowel Cancer UK aims to save lives by raising awareness of bowel cancer, campaigning for best treatment and care and providing practical support and advice.
On Tuesday 19 December 2017, we announced that we will be merging with Beating Bowel Cancer in 2018. Both Boards of Trustees unanimously welcome this merger as the best opportunity to achieve our shared vision of a world where no one dies of bowel cancer.
With the help of our fantastic supporters, both charities achieve a great deal separately, but bowel cancer remains the UK’s second biggest cancer killer with over 16,000 people dying annually of a disease that is preventable, treatable and curable. We are determined to change that. By integrating our activity, teams, networks and support bases we will create a strong, confident charity that will drive positive change to save more lives in the future.

What's it like to have a colonoscopy?
zhlédnutí 104Před měsícem
We spoke to some members of our community about what it's like to have a colonoscopy. A colonoscopy is a test that looks inside your large bowel to check the lining for polyps or cancer. A long flexible tube with a bright light and a tiny camera on the end is inserted through your back passage. This allows the doctor or nurse to get a clear view of the bowel lining. We understand some people ma...

Thank you for sharing your story, it's wonderful to listen to a success story especially after being stage 4, wishing you all the best for the future & God Bless
Words cannot express what hellish experiences you have had to endure. My heart goes out to you and your family. I am at a loss for expressing adequately what I ought to say. I am not the same religion as you but I ask Allah to care for you, comfort you, and heal you dear one. Amen 💛
Thank you for sharing with us. Being on the first rung of the ladder can be so daunting with the names of things, not understanding what is going to happen, fears and so forth. It took a lot of unselfish courage for you to share your own journey. God bless you and keep well. Wishing you a long, healthy and happy life now. Catherine.🛞
Great video, very helpful! I didn't have bowel cancer, but I do have a stoma (had my surgery when I was 18) and I really appreciate the fact you included a story from a younger person. When I first got my stoma, I felt really out of place as there was no local support for people with stomas over 18 and under 50. I'm 20 now, and while it's taken a lot of getting used to but I love my stoma.
Brilliant, Phil: thank you very much for this. I am expecting to have surgery soon and feel much better prepared for the future after watching your video.
🙏🙏🙏 I pray for you
I'M GOING TO CRY CHARLOTTE IS SO BEAUTIFUL
Thank you (and Truly Bumptuous) for showing us it's okay to have a sense of humor along with a "bu😂m on tum"!!!
I would not take the doctors word for anything. They assume that it’s only a minor thing and by the time they find out that it’s more serious a lot of times. It’s too late and this happens a lot of other illnesses too. You have to speak for yourself and that’s what I did when I went to the doctor for lump in my throat.
Gorgeous looking couple.

I’m feeling very discouraged by the medical system here in the United States. I had extreme bleeding as well as a consistent cramp in my left side that won’t go away. I’m completely exhausted, I have iron deficiency and my bowels oscillate between being constipated and then on the other side of things. On the other side of things, I’m going five or six times a day. Pencil thin stool. I really genuinely am worried that something is going on however, nobody will take me seriously because of my age and because I’m a woman woman I’m going to keep pushing to get help, but it’s really discouraging.😊
Yor doctor was negligent

Tom becomes very calm and relaxed around charlotte. She's so good for him. And also maybe its because they are promoting a charity.
The amount of shite that's put in our food is absolutely to blame for cases like these.
Why mention treatment available that she paid for but give no name or other information.
Any updates?
Thanks Phil, not for me but all the new folk to this. I had mine for eight months then a reversal. Here in Sydney we have a Stoma association which had a Zoom meeting monthly with lots of advise. They also supplied all the gear needed. All very daunting at first but one settles into a smooth routine quickly and it is then no big issue. Good luck to anyone having this. Cheers from Australia.............PS Mine was due to Acute Diverticulitis.
Charlotte is stunning.
good afternoon. sorry. I know you're a Tom fan. I often read your comments on the video about Tom. I'm a fan of Tom and Charlotte too. Rumors appeared on social networks that Tom and Charlotte had broken up. Someone writes that Tom cheated on Charlotte, someone writes that Charlotte cheated on Tom. If you know, write if they broke up or these are rumors. Without details. Sorry again. Thank you. 🙏
Sorry. It's just that your comment is the most recent.
@user-qq2xl7re6e they are still very much together, just very private.
Well done. Thanks for sharing your experience dealing with your stoma. Much appreciated. Cheers!
Salaams I have bowel cancer any chance I can contact you thanks

Phil. Those barrier wipes are nothing to do with helping your bag to stick!!,
You know something is wrong. You go to a doctor and they just fob you off. This needs to stop and they take patients concerns seriously. I had bad psoriasis. Year after year. GP after GP gave me rubbish steroid creams. I insisted on seeing a specialist. A trip to the hospital to see a dermatologist they prescribed me a cream and my psoriasis is gone.

I really enjoyed listening to your story.pleased for you ❤😢
UK healthcare seems like garbage
Tom and Charlotte are very beautiful people, talented actors, caring parents of two sons. Britain's favorite couple.❤
You are amazing Emma, thank you for sharing your story. I too am currently going through my chemotherapy tablets journey after being diagnosed with bowel cancer last July. I had my operation in October and i will be on chemotherapy tablets until the end of June. My wife sadly passed from cancer 6 years ago so im fighting my hardest not to leave our 2 children parentless. Stories like yours help on my dark days. I wish you and your family long happy healthy lives. Thank you. 🙏🏼❤
It's so interesting that here, when TH is talking about such an important topic, he completely loses his wild accent game and becomes decidedly middle class and proper
Thank you for sharing your story. I was also recently diagnosed with stage 3 Colon cancer. Had surgery and now on vicious chemotherapy.. Your story has given me hope. I've recently launched a CZcams blog on bowel cancer and my journey.
Thank you for sharing this. If you need any support or information, we're here for you. We're wishing you all the best💛
there love this lady I'm going for one in a few days not my first one
Do you use an eakin ring or paste?
Good information. I normally cut my bag before I put it in my travel bag. It's just one last step.
I find myself scanning CZcams videos now looking for answers. I stumbled across yours. I had my colonoscopy yesterday after my positive fit test of 400. It was a fast track through the Gp as I have quite severe anaemia, but no bleeding that is noticeable. I’m a bit sore in places after the colonoscopy as they took quite a few polyps for biopsy . I’m in limbo stage now, not quite knowing whether I’ve been lucky or not. I have seen your video I feel slightly more confident in the success rate of treating bowel cancer, so I can go forward with a slightly more positive outlook . Thank you
Thank you for sharing your story. I am also a CRC survivor .... and have a similar philosophy after my surgery. Long may your thriving last. Self advocacy is key.
So pleased you opted for the radical treatmemt and had your rectum removed and the colostomy bag especially as you now know you have micro satellite instability.
