  • The aim of prehabilitation (prehab) is to help newly diagnosed people prepare, physically and mentally, for cancer treatment. Prehab can help you cope better with side effects from treatment, recover quicker and have better long-term health.
Our recorded episode focusing on prehabilitation explains the components of the programme, and how you can access this service.
    About the speakers:
Professor Tara Rampal is a leading global expert and thought leader in the field of cancer and surgical prehabilitation. She has contributed widely to raising awareness of the benefits of prehabilitation and advocates for making it accessible and embedded in healthcare systems.
Roberto Laza-Cagigas has six years’ experience in designing and delivering prehabilitation programmes for patients with cancer. He is currently a PhD/MPhil student in Human Sciences and his research is focused on the effects that multimodal prehabilitation has on patients with cancer and Type 2 diabetes who are awaiting surgery as part of their cancer treatment.

If you’re offered pre-hab please take it. It wasn’t offered to me, even though it is available in my area. I had post op complications which have stopped me exercising for 12m whilst everything healed that I’m sure could have been prevented or lessened by pre Hab. I’ve since met one of the team physios as a private service and really wish I’d had the chance to benefit pre op. Good luck everyone.
